Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.
Help Desk Holiday Closure Dates
In addition to the
normal closure times for the Help Desk, the Help Desk will be closed
Monday, December 25th for the Christmas Holiday and will reopen
Tuesday, December 26th. The Help Desk will then close again on
Monday, January 1st for New Years Day and reopen
Tuesday, January 2nd.
You may still submit tickets during this time and they will be answered in the order that they are received when we return.
If you have critical matter needing immediate attention (and not policy related), please email
help@deviantart.com.
You can also visit
#help on the dAMN messaging network to receive live help 24/7.
Reminder
Before we get started this week we would like to remind users of a request still standing.
"In May we announced there was some data loss of down loadable files only, uploaded between 2004 and 2005. Backups have been loaded and before they can be run developers are asking for your help in fixing this issue. In order to help aide them in this request this is what we need from you: We need you to gather links to any pieces, including your own, which are affected by this issue.
Once gathered please send these links to the Help Desk under the contact category "Gallery Section Addition".
Once the Help Desk Team has gathered enough links from users, developers will have the information that is needed to identify the backups required to repair these files to their original working order.
(Update - We have so far gathered enough links to aide developers in fixing this issue and it will be worked on as soon as they piece together all information.)
Hexe's Corner
I am happy to report this week that the "deviation Management" section in your 'Edit Profile' page has been renamed to "devMobile Management". This should hopefully end any confusion there was between the Storage system and devmobile Management system.
P.S

Some changes will be made to the FAQ soon, looks wise and feature wise. The features will be added in steps and so far I must say the FAQ is looking pretty hot.

So I bet now you would like a little teaser, eh?
Are you

yet? I know Hexe is

!
Ewm's Corner
This week I would like to remind everyone about how to reply to Help Desk tickets. You treat a Help Desk ticket just like you would any comment it works exactly the same way. It will appear in a section of your message center titled "Help Desk Response."
For subscribers the actual comment will show up in your message center. All you will need to do is click reply, type in your message, and then you can preview and send your reply. For non-subscribers, it will give you a link to the comment in order for you to reply.
Please keep in mind that once you respond to your ticket, the message we sent you will no longer be available in your message center. If you wish to make further responses, you will need to make sure you save the comment link or you can wait for the administrator handling your ticket to respond back.
Often users who do not save the link to their ticket will respond to who ever handled their ticket through notes or by leaving a comment on their page. While yes, we can answer your notes or comments this can complicate the situation more since we have information in your ticket and now outside information as well. In addition we have also seen users create a new ticket in order to respond to their previous ticket. Unless it is physically impossible to reply to your ticket, it is best to keep all of your information within the ticket in order to keep everything nice and organized.
Bug Corner
With Gallery Issues out of the way along with the other top 2 bugs mentioned in $
lolly's
Bug Issues news article last week, we can now begin focusing on all other bugs sitewide. So lookout as the Ghostbusters are gonna whoop those bugs dead!
First on the fixed list - This week we had an error with the deviantWATCH where users could no longer add new users to this listing. This issue was luckily quickly remedied. If you're still having issues adding users please try clearing your cache first, before contacting the Help Desk for further assistance.
Next up on the list - The remainder of bugs left in the new submission process are being worked on this week. The first fix will come with the Category selector, which will speed things up greatly.
