Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.
Help Desk Holiday Closure Dates

You may still submit tickets during this time and they will be answered in the order that they are received when we return.

Sticky
I ($
hexentanz) will not be around deviantART next week on the 18th through 21st for a surgery I am having. +
ewm and $
chix0r will be handling the desk on those days, since $
chix0r is not a regular in the desk and has other duties as well, there may be some delays, but they should not be major.
There will be no Weekly Help Desk article posted next week due to this.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Hot Off the Press
Favourited scraps now appear along with your main favourites! That's right never again will you have to click on the "Browse Favourites" link, then click on the Categories button to sort viewing to scraps only, just to see them in your favourites section. After all if they're worthy of being selected as a favourite why not display them with all the rest? Enjoy!
Hexe's Corner
This week I would like to bring to your attention some serious issues which can affect the efficiency of the Help desk and our ability to get back to you in a timely manner with minimum delay.
The first issue is that there is an alarming increase in duplicate tickets being submitted to the Help Desk. This has always been a problem, and there is no real solution since all of you cannot see exactly what other people have reported, however in recent months this problem has gotten worse. This causes not only a backlog of cases in the desk but a serious delay to those needing help.
Please check the
Status and
Help forums first before filing a bug report. If the issue is mentioned in the
Status or
Help Forum then you may assume that it is already known by us and does not need further reporting.
Also if you have already submitted a ticket to the Help desk please do not submit another one because you have not received an instant answer. Submitting more than one ticket not only clogs up the help desk with unneeded duplicates, but it may result also in your inquiry
not receiving a reply; especially if there is an existing Status report in the forum about it or if dozens or hundreds of other people have already sent in identical inquiries.
The second issue the lack of details in inquiries. There have been several Help guides for how to go about submitting Bug Reports and even mention in these weekly updates stressing to give good details. However this message seems to be lost amongst users as the amount of vagueness in tickets is increasing each week. I cannot stress enough the importance in being as detailed as possible in your inquiries, this will not only solve time in getting your inquiry dealt with fast but avoid you having to be asked one million annoying questions (as some have put it).

Ewm's Corner
Last week I talked about "How to Reply to Your Help Desk Ticket", to add on to this I would like to discuss how to find out what you have previously mentioned in a help desk ticket in case. This helps greatly if you have submitted multiple tickets on several different issues and you are not sure which one we have replied to.
There are two different ways to access the parent links, which allow you to see the previous comments made in a help desk ticket.
For non-subscribers the reply to your ticket will look like this in your message center.

Weekly Tip
Did you know you can send notes to more than one person at a time? Well, you can! To do this you will need to separate the individual names with a comma and space.
For example: hexentanz, ewm, lolly would send a note to hexentanz, ewm, and lolly. If you have organized your deviantWATCH list into specific groups, then you can mass note all the members of the said group, by selecting the group name from the drop down menu.
Be aware that the field for adding recipients is limited to 255 characters.

It's better to be hated for who you are, than to be loved for who you are not.
Blocking deviants from userpages should be taken very seriously now. Now deviants can no longer fav nor unfav works due to it and it must of been taken from a deviant who was agressive a few months back.
Deviants who blocked users in the first place, end up accusing them of abusing them of being a favourites abusing moron (excuse the bad remark) and telling them to stop faving their works for the rest of their life.
Is it possible to use the blocking feature to remove banned deviants from their watchlist also?
As for the bugs, in the recent watchers' list has be came more clearer now.
Hexe, the problem is that banned deviants who either have been permabanned or requested to have their account closed are not removed from the friends list on other's userpages, even if the list of friends that the banned deviant added (by their avatar), has been purged. You can tell by the activity log (if enabled) as well as their friends list (if enabled for a banned deviant subscriber) and on another deviants' userpage where the deviant prior to the account closure watched.
Also, once the deviant requests to have their account reopened, they'll still be watching that deviant...even if they're not on their watch list on their own page at all.
I wish there was a way to get this fixed.

People are starting to get sick and tired of dealing with more banned deviants on their watchlist, even if they have either been banned indefintely and chose not to come back, permabanned or requested to have their account closed. I've also seen certain userpages being ruined because they end up with so many banned deviants on their recent watcher's list.
I wished that there was a way to allow a deviant to remove banned deviants from their list if they choose to not come back to dA.
