DeviantART has been evolving through different periods of time. dAv4, dAv5 were in fact changes that inserted the site into a new era of development and that is of no doubt. Rapid enlargement of the community was put forward along with fast reactions from dA Creative team, which bloomed in a fully user-pleasant (almost) website. Thinking of this place as of superb playground, testground and show off for talented artists, it must be admitted that the aim is fullfilled totally.
Bugs and errors that came with new dAv5 have been already erased by the team. New features like CSS journals, additional stuff like faving of articles and so on and so forth were introduced with great zeal (some of them due to strange events as we know). It seems the community develops in a good way. So to help it there should be made even more improvements that could be practical and useful for the users.
Here are put forward few suggestions how to improve dA in a practical way.
Journal case
Thing that came first to mind is an option of 'hiding journal'. In this case people who don't want to delete all of the stuff they wrote and the only thing that they want is to disable their journal from seeing it by other deviants (maybe they're switching the role of their user page into a portfolio or whatever). As it is known the only solution to such would be deletion of all journals. Only then would the journal box disappear. So the option of hiding journal would be practical in multum of cases.
Another case connected with journals is a small lemon on the top of the cake (i.e. synonym of a small bad thing that can spoil the whole devolicious snack). Imagine a deviant that has hundreds of journals written and one day he decides to delete them all. Would you dare to click hundred times to delete all of them? I know there are such people that would go for it (!) but... suppose all of you 'maniac writers' would agree with that. So I think a button 'delete all' situated under the list of journals would be just fine to satisfy all needs of people who are up to writing daily journals frequently.
Featured deviant
Second proposal is introducing system of featured artist/deviant on the user's page as one of the boxes below the journal column or maybe under the Recent Deviations box. It would show from two to four random deviations from the gallery of particular featured artist. The Feature Box could be turned on/off/changed at will. An avatar of the featured deviant would be shown at the top of this box.
These are thoughts so if you think you would like such improvements, let the dA administrators know what do you think about this here. . If you have any questions, improvement proposals or other suggestions don't hesitate to write them down.
