I Am A Child

*nine9nine9:iconnine9nine9: reports, 5h 43m ago
My little girl is so magical. With a smile she can brighten my world. The glow in her eyes when she tells one of her stories melts away all of the day's problems and concerns. For me, having a child and being able to participate in her life, watch her grow and absorb the wonders of the world, completes me as a human being.

For my latest journal feature I am presenting a visual essay on children -- works by DA artists that beg to ask the question, "Is there anything more pure, more magical than a child?" Breaking up the photos are lyrics from Neil Young's brilliant song about children, "I Am A Child." If you want to listen to Neil's song while viewing the essay, right click on [link]

Please fave and comment on works you like -- it is the least we can do to honor the efforts of these amazing artists!

Traditionaltech News #2

~lowtech-artists:iconlowtech-artists: reports, December 24, 2006
Welcome to Lowtech
12.24.06 Issue
Happy Christmahannakwanzikah, or whatever you like to call it: It's December! The stores are packed to the brim with Candy-Canes, everyone's in a giving mood, the eggnog is flowing, the carolers are on the rampage, and its time for Lowtech's winter recap Newsletter!

If any of you don't know what Lowtech is: It's a club that features the traditional artists of dA with contests art prompts and even a tutorial account for those stuck in a rut. Traditional art isn't just pen and paper. We accept anything you can do without a computer, which means writing, film photography, and artisan crafts as well. So far most of our members are the pen and paper type, but who's complaining? You don't have to be a member to participate in our contests, or to take a look around our gallery.

We're glad to meet new people and check out what's going on around the galleries (the browse button is our best friend). If you have anything you think is important about the traditional art scene you want to tell us, just send a note.

Headlines
:pointr:Lowtech has been lucky to gain a few new artists that are truly above and beyond. This months feature artist is *artistwilder with her chilly depiction of Winter's Edge.

:pointr:Thanks to its new subscriber status, Lowtech's Forum and shoutboard are open for business along with our chatroom #Lowtechshare. Feel free to leave a thread or just chat with the rest of the Lowtech team. Just be sure to read the Rules first!

:pointr:Lowtech artists aren't the only ones out there with amazing traditional skills. Check out the new Eye-catchers journal, a place where we feature new non-member talent fresh off of the submission page.

:pointr:Lowtech's getting its Winter facelift! All new CSS's are showing up in each of the journals. If you have an idea or template for any of the journals, feel free to send us a note.

:pointr:Everyone can learn something new, Check out the Lowtech Tutorial of the Month
