Who are we?

The Manga/Anime Gallery Directors
Gallery Updates
We have been keeping up really well with the Report Desk, so if you report a miscat, it's usually gone within a few hours. We are also spending a huge portion of time cleaning up the galleries from the ground up, starting from the back. Originally we planned to move everything to the right place, but it's so time consuming since it's all mixed up with anthro, and fanart, moving things all separately was taking several hours per page of deviations, which is an unrealistic amount of time to spend on deviations that are in mostly inactive accounts anyways.
So don't be alarmed if your deviations are moved to scraps, because it's just a holding place, to keep your deviations, until you can put them in the right categories. Also don't worry about it. It's not a horrible thing to have your stuff moved. You aren't in trouble. It's just cleaning! It would be nice if you could all check your submissions in your own gallery, and do a little clean up as well. It would help us out a lot. Thanks for understanding and helping us with this huge job.
FAQ #634: Why was my deviation relocated or moved?
On a side note, if you are reporting deviations, please make sure you select the right category for your report. If you are reporting a miscat of something please choose "wrong section" but if it's also a rip, it's more important that the rip gets reported to the right person, so the offending deviation can be removed. We don't delete deviations. We only move, so it's essential that you report rips, and screencaps etc. to
"unauthorized art reuse" or
"ripped or stolen work". That means those reports will go to C&E, and they are really the only people who can do anything about that. However, if you do not provide evidence in your report, in the form of a link to the original work, or screencap from the show, nothing can be done. So please, give the evidence so we can jail the rippers!
We also want to remind people that ^
aeterne and ^
guruubii were not around as Gallery Directors when the gallery reconstruction occurred, and we also have no power (and don't even want to) to change it back to the old system. Our last newsletter got some comments in that manner, and we wanted to point out the benefits of having this category. We fully support the separation of manga/anime, cartoons and comics and anthro, and here is why:
a) People looking for non anime don't come across it and flame like before, and people looking only for anime can find it easily.
b) We are more able to focus on the needs of this very particular, and very unique group of people.
c) More exposure for the people to get DDs and featured artists etc. Good luck in finding good anime mixed in with everything else. It's hard enough to find with only the anime to sift through
d) Being able to run contests and events more geared towards the genre, since we can actually see it and find it!
e) Obviously easier to moderate, so the galleries will look better (eventually with a lot of work) and represent a better image of what manga/anime is - ART.
d) Manga/Anime is getting A LOT more attention now that it's seen more. The category brought it right up to the front.
e) Browse function improved so that when you are browsing you don't only get one type of anime (like only digital) you get it all in one she-bang. (that was my big annoyance before.)
f) Fan Art isn't mixed in with cartoons so you can more easily find a fan art of your favorite show!
So it would be appreciated if we could stop getting orders the change it back. Demanding never got people anywhere anyways.

If you're looking for a well-balanced use of media, you'll surely find it in ~
codenameparanormal's gallery. Her gallery is full of wonderful ink drawings, as well as the watercolours or digital paintings. Though she's been in dA for almost half a year, her pagevies are very poor and it's sure that she needs more attention.
Special News: Submitted Content
Hello, all! *
azarath here, on behalf of the ~
twotonearmy. For almost 4 years the 2TA members have been featuring and producing quality black & white/greyscale art, in all genres, media, and skill levels. Anime & Manga are certainly known for their vibrant color schemes, but some of the most amazing works are produced in black & white. Each month we'd like to feature 6 artists & pieces from the anime & manga community that deserve a second look!

If there is a piece of artwork you'd like to see featured in next month's article, drop a line to *
azarath! Just make sure that it is from the anime & manga gallery, and is black and white/greyscale only (no colors). (And of course, don't recommend yourself!

) Thanks for reading, and see you next month!
Almost Daily Deviations
Sometimes we get so many suggestions, that we cant pick them all. Here are a few gems that were suggested and didnt quite make it, but are worth featuring none the less.

We Recommend
Recently the Report Desk has been flooded with the deviations that were fanarts, but were not in "Fan Art" subcategory. It's very painful for us to move every drawing into the proper category, becuase if one deviation is wrongly put, then mostly the whole deviant's gallery is a miscat! Please consider what a fanart is:
when you draw any copyrighted character from manga/anime, or even from a book/movie/etc (when it's in manga style), the art should go into "Fan Art" subcategory.
You can also read what deviantART says about fanarts in the FAQ, but it's mainly about the difference between fanart and ripped works:
FAQ #572: What does deviantART consider "Fan Art" to be?
In Conclusion...

aside from that.. i really have no complaints..though i must ask... is there a way to submitt something as oekaki fanart? because as far as i can see, one can submit asrt to anime/manga>digital media>oekaki and Anime/manga>digital media>fanart but one can't submit (as least not correctly) fanart that they've done in oekaki... so..wondering if you guys had any control over that or if you could tell somebody who did... <3
happy new year to you as well!
