Apple iPhone Finally Debuts

¢elusive:iconelusive: reports, Jan 9, 2007
Apple has finally done it. They created a mobile phone. That's right, a phone. It fits in a candy bar form factor, however doesn't fold, doesn't slide, doesn't do anything you maybe use to seeing, however, it does have one major advantage over other new technologies -- the entire phone is a touch screen.

The long awaited release of information regarding the iPhone has been covered with much debate. One of the interesting things was that Apple and Steve Jobs have actually dubbed this the "iPhone", even though Cisco Systems owns the trademark to that name, I guess we'll see how that works out.

The phone is in talks with possibly Cingular to carry the new piece of technology, however no agreements have been met anywhere. Market analysts believe this new gadget could cost anywhere from $200.00 to $400.00 depending on which network, and the configuration and packages it is coupled with.

One of the more interesting features of this phone is that the operating system on the phone is completely new. Apple is calling it a full-fledges OS X operating system on the phone, which is years ahead of anything available now.

Do you really need a phone that is basically an iPod that makes phone calls? Well, it's not a stretch. MP3 players have been integrated with phones for a long time, as well as cameras (the iPhone features a 2 megapixel camera). This will ultimately be up to the consumer, if they want to purchase it or not. We'll see as time goes on and an official network is chosen to see just how much weight the Apple iPhone will carry with the rest of the mobile world.

I'll laugh if it has the same kind of "safe portability" as the ipods.
