Final Fantasy Blamed for Murder

reports, January 20, 2007Final Fantasy VII is both a popular game and movie. (See Advent Children [link])That is... it was in Germany until two boys took it to the extreme.
On January 16th, 2007, a German news article was translated into English on the IGN website.
Two 15 year old boys, dubbed themselves with the alias titles of 'Sephiroth' and 'Reno'. They took a couple back to their house and murdered them. Then, later they held a female friend of theirs hostage for an hour until they finally gave in.
The true problem --excluding the fact that there was a double homicide-- began when the character names were linked with the Final Fantasy games. And then, to seal all matters, it was in the knowledge of the authorities that the boys's computer had the game intalled on it. Thus, by the farthest stretch of the imagination... and the German media... gave the entire Final Fantasy the name "Killerspiele" which in German means "Killer game".

Concerning the "Killer Game" matter. Politicians try to prohibit them but since law lacks a definition it's quite troublesome and vain for them. The most astonishing attempt I've come across so far was "A Killer Game is a game that mainly deals with the killing of humans and human-like creatures." Nice, eh? Wow the NextGen Killer Game.
... I wonder when the media has to settle for Pokémon and the like.

& that's two kids compared to how many who played Final Fantasy VII all over the world?
Some parents will just find an excuse just not to blame their own parenting.
You're injecting too much into what is posted.
This is what the original post gives you:
2 kids use FF names and have FF on a PC.
They're also suspected of murder.
That's it.
There is no direct connection between the two.
So assuming that they couldn't "handle" reality etc...is jumping to conclusions.
What if they wear the same style clothes?
