Let's keep our perspective

`davincipoppalag:icondavincipoppalag: reports, 18h 23m ago
My friend posted this in his journal and I think it's important enough that the whole world should take a moment to reflect on it. Yes..the world lost a talented performer and artist in Michael Jackson..but there are many more tragic deaths occurring daily all over the world that go unnoticed. Please give these heroes your prayers and thanks too.

DENYING THE POVERTY DRAFT-THE SOLDIER AS A SYMBOL

=whitetrashpalace:iconwhitetrashpalace: reports, July 9
The Poverty Draft, Politics, Symbols, and the inconvenience of being human.

Even in times of war, the Soldier as an individual is of no consequence. The Soldier is a symbol, a simple pawn in a culture war. The Soldier is either a villain, or a Hero. The Soldier always serves for the honor of his country, not his paycheck. The Soldier is faithful, as there are 'no atheists in the trenches'. The Soldier is Combat Arms. The Soldier is male, he married a young white girl, and he has a baby on the way, whom he has never met.

The Soldier is a romantic ideal.

ELL-OH-VEE-EE is the Movement

*PianoxLullaby:iconPianoxLullaby: reports, July 12
This is an article that holds the intent to bring awareness to pain, depression, and a lack of loving arms. Everyone has moments of grief, but not everyone can find the help they need to make everything okay again. It is important that we can bring awareness to these issues, and show the peoples suffering from these that there is still hope.

About art, life and ethics

=lorddarq:iconlorddarq: reports, January 22, 2007
First cut is the deepest... It's always like that.Once hit by the impulse to create... to make to do, you become addicted. At least that's how I felt first time I made something... Maybe this creative impulse is just a pathetic excuse of man's wish to become god as well.Who knows ?Art is ultimatley expression... Be it in any way you would/could understand it.It's not practical,it's not logical,it's what you feel. And artists are those who give this world the reason to live... they bring out the beautiful side of life. The grace, the intrinsic values of imagination and borderless spirit of freedom.

So why respect an artist ? If not for the fact that he is graced with imagination and creativity, then at least for struggling with harsh conditions, disappointment, turmoil and unrest. You all know well that fame and fortune have their price, and artist payed that price with their lives sometimes. How can you understand a few lines on a canvas if you don't even understand the way you feel days in a row ? How can you appreciate the effort put into a single piece if your entire life you only used logics and mathematic thinking and would't allow yourself a single hour a day to dream away some magic stories about knights and princesses and fairies and dragons or maybe some kind of movie script about two young lovers so unhappy about their lives or relationships ? how can you understand all of that if you stay a faithfull little puppy to you or your boss, your parents, or even the rules around you ? Sometimes you really need to go out there do something totally crazy, that you always wanted to do for yourself, come back and stop living your life as a little robot who doesn't make mistakes, goes to bed early, eats regular lunches at the same restaurant, watches tv and goes to sleep thinking about tomorrow's chores.Theres so much more to life than that...So all of you guys out here, be gratefull you have been granted the power to actually enjoy life in all its glory.

You may ask me what life has to do with being an artist. Well just about everything actually.Just think about it for a moment ! You are granted the opportunity to do what you want to, to express yourself in a world governed by censorship, etiquette and mass products. What is the major advantage here ? You ARE someone.. you get to be yourself in a society of pretenders and gray faces with suits. It's colour you have and colour wich defines your actions and your way of life.

What about ethics ? Is this subject something so unimportant you would want to avoid it ? Maybe so maybe not. It's all up to you to decide what's ethical or not, since ethics are like truth, there is no absolute value to it. All depends on the point of view. Having everything you need to work is a opportunity not all of us have,so maybe that is why there's a certain amount of self-constraint to produce quality art that represents not only you but all of the rest as well. Why ? Because you feel the responsability to pass on a message all of us want to carry out to the rest of the world. That message is varied, but shows the same thing, the beauty in all of life's parts. There is beauty in sadness,in tragedy,in joy,in smiles,in nature,is space and in all thing surrounding us.So we all actualy speak the same language. This ethics question goes far beyond the simple things thay may or may not be seen by all of us,yet it is certain that each of us represents another as well, and all of us represent the world around us.

Do what you want to,because you are free to do so as long as you become aware of this: we all are special and unique, but only some of us will have the strenght to show the way they feel, the way they see things.Only some choose to have a strong personality, and choose to express it in ways according to themselves. And those few fortunate don't always find their way in life as easily as the others.

You are all winners, just be carefull how you choose to use that prize you got.

Yeah, me too... I was really surprised to see that I was the first comment. You'd think that a title like that would draw people in.

P. S. Sorry if this is a double post. My computer was screwing up sending it so I hit cancel and tried again, but it's possible that the original had in fact gone through.

The taste for culture and philosophy and reading of today's people has totally disappeared unfortunatley :( I reccomend you the movie "Idiocracy" so that you'll have a general ideea of what will happen to our society in about 50 years or so.... :)

Society does kind of suck in that way, although I would have expected better from dA.

I'll look up the movie.

Would you be prepared to sign a petition towards dA that demands that things change ? I'm thinking of starting one ! No more yuppies and trenwhores, no more down time for servers, better services for us.

It would depend upon what exactly the petition said. I'd certainly be willing to take a look at one.
