reports, January 23, 2007It is said to be the brightest comet to have appeared in 30-40 years and will remain in our skies for weeks, perhaps even months.
The comet is a combination of rock and ice. It is 5km in diameter, its tail is made up of rock, ice, gas and dust and stretches for millions of kilometers in length.
The Comet was discovered only last year by Australian astronomer R.H McNaught who has also named 30 other comets.
The comet can be seen every evening to the South around 8pm (South - African Time) and around 5AM (Australian Time) and will only remain visible for 30 - 45 minutes.
