Black and white is a broad adjectival term used to describe a number of monochrome forms of visual arts. Most forms of visual technology start out in black and white, then slowly evolve into color as technology progresses.

Black and white as a description is also something of a misnomer, for in addition to black and white most of these media included varying shades of grey. Further, many prints, especially those produced earlier in the development of photography, were in sepia (mainly to provide archival stability), which gave a richer, more subtle shading than reproductions in plain black-and-white, although less so than color.

This is what commonly we mean for black and white.
Something technical and purely descriptive.. leaving aside the term and attempting a romantic approach, what is black and white photography?
In my opinion is the finest expression of photography, refined and intense, vibrant in the huge sense of this term.
Black and White is all-understanding every aspects of photography communication leaving the door open to the watcher's interpretation more than colour photography because of his monochrome forms overdrawing the leading purpose of photography: to communicate.

Every day we can search fine art here.. and every day we see a lot of great works all around..
That's amazing.. but really often we pay the price of popularity ignoring the huge mass of stunning works hidden among the multitude of galleries and members.
So break through cliches and the common trend I summit to your attention a first short selection of unheard but great black and white photos that deserve more care and praise for sure..and let me the arrogance to say that more than one of these photos would be DD worthy.
