Wallpaper Gallery: Browsing by Resolution

$zilla774:iconzilla774: reports, January 30, 2007
So you want to browse the Wallpaper Gallery by specific resolution to match the size of desktop but can't find a way to do it? Well, search no longer! (wow, first paragraph and already I'm punning...)

Here is a neat tip on how to get the most out of the wallpaper gallery by using the dA search feature to single out specific resolutions.

Firstly, you need to select the Customization > Wallpaper gallery in the Browse feature.

Next, you can select a specific section of the gallery if you want, for instance Customization > Wallpaper > Fantasy

In my example I have also selected the "Popular" and "All Time" sections, but you can browse by day, week, month, popular, newest... the possibilities are endless.

Now all you need to do is to enter the resolution you wish to filter by in the Search box at the right of the page like this:

This is the filter search for the page (not the main search at the top of the page which will search all of dA).

Simply place the resolution with no spaces, as number x number ie 800x600 or 1024x768 etc, and then click the 'search' button and the page will show the filtering like this:

Then you just have to find a wallpaper you like. Unfortunately this is not something I can help with and from this point on I'm afraid you are on your own... :giggle:

Happy searching!

z.

(many thanks to *Arete-Eirene-Phile for pointing this tip out to me)

Good tip, unfortunately this would leave out those who upload wallpapers as a downloadable pack with different sizes and resolutions, but it's a good way to limit the search. :)

agreed. but if you're a firefox user, you can install the Crystal Ball extension by =dancewiththesky, which will allow you to set up detailed parameters for your search. most people who submit multi-resolution wallpapers packs will include in the description, a listing of which resolutions are included in the pack. that said, you should be able to customize a search to find exactly what you're looking for. i've been using this extension for a few weeks now, and it has really saved me a lot of time when searching. hope this helps. :D

This is how I figured it out- on a windows pc, hit the button labeled "print screen" or "prnt scrn" on your keyboard. Then, go into MS Paint and hit ctrl v. The image that was on your screen should appear. Then, click image--> attributes, and the numbers shown as height and width are your screen size. I hope that helped! :D
