Gallery Updates

We have been working hard on clearing out the miscat reports in the report desk! Thanks so much for reporting so much! it really makes the cleaning a lot faster and easier. One thing we are getting a lot of reports for, is traditional art being in the digital art gallery. We do realize this is a huge issue right now, but please avoid being angry with the deviants you are reporting. The deviations are there because of the category change. Everything was moved there, and we are working on moving it out. Your reports help us out a lot, thank you! Something you can do for us, is go through your galleries and make sure your deviations are all in the right category. Simply change the section they are posted in. It saves us a lot of work later! We are still working on cleaning the galleries from the bottom up, and the next task after that is going to be going through digital and moving the traditional out. Lotsa work but it will be worth it!


I know we mention this every newsletter, and we will continue to until its understood, because its clearly not. We only select DD's for the manga/anime category. We both have guidelines that are link all over our deviant pages, there is no reason to miss them. Its extremely frustrating, when you get half a dozen DD suggestions, and not one of them is for your own category. When you suggest a DD check the FAQ to see who you should be suggesting to.

And please, for the love of art, check each gallery directors guidelines. If its worth the DD, its worth the 3-6 seconds to make sure your suggesting it right.

Creating alternate accounts to suggest your own work, is not only extremely selfish and greedy, but it will get you permanently black listed from receiving DD's for life. so please, do yourself a favor, and be patient. someone else will suggest you eventually, and guess what, dropping by one of our pages for a visit cant hurt your chances. Say hello, give us a devwatch, comment on the newsletters or suggest someone else for a DD, and we will most likely go to your gallery and if we see something DD worthy, you got it. Almost all my DD's are chosen that way.


Another sure way to make it on our DD black list is by flaming a DD, or posting on the DD that they don't deserve the DD. No exceptions. It is not your place to dictate what can, and cannot be a Daily deviations. its our place. We chose it, so suck it up. Maybe if you feel so strongly, kindly suggest something you think should be a DD. Do not ever, disrespect another artist out of your own petty jealousy. We have 0 tolerance on this issue. If you want to be heard about your opinion, note whoever picked the DD and discuss it maturely. Oh, and please, do yourself a favor, and find out what a DD is before you run around dictating what can and cannot be one.

We get asked a lot "how do I subscribe to this newsletter?" and the answer is, you cannot. Currently DA does not have a feature to watch news articles, or have it be a devwatchable thing. however, you can do the next best thing. Bookmark this link. it will archive all of the newsletters for you. its so easy peasy then you can check up and see if you missed one, and read the old ones. Also keep in mind, or mark on your calendars, the newsletter is posted on the last day of every month.


Other frequently asked questions are:

"What is a miscat?" - It is simply short for "mis categorized deviation"

"How do I report a deviation?" - there is a link underneath each deviations views (where it says how many favorites an image has) that says "report policy violation". Click that, and follow the steps. please pay attention to the section you are reporting to, and provide evidence to any claims you make in the report. That saves a lot of leg work, as well as gets the issue handled faster. We cant see everything that goes on, and mistakes will happen. you are our eyes and ears to the community, so we really appreciate your actions!



Contests

*Deviant-Contests

I know I mentioned a contest for Manga/anime in the new year, but still, I cant think of a really good theme for a large scale DeviantArt sponsored contest. So that is going to be put on hold for now. Watch out though! starting tomorow we are starting mini contests every 2 weeks!!! Yup, you heard me. Seeing as its mini contests the prizes wont be huge. This is also because the prizes are coming out of mine and ^aeterne's pocket devCASH as well. So watch the news tomorow for the first contest posting! You can also watch our journals and we will announce everything there! so on the 1st and the 15th of every month, a new contest will run! watch tomorow for the first contest!!


Convention Appearances

^pinguino - February 23-25 marks the second year of the New York Comic Con, the East Coast comics convention that took the industry by storm and became a major destination for creators and fans alike. It is also home to the first annual American Anime Awards ceremony. Guests include a rare appearance by Stephen King, as well as Stan Lee, Paul Dini, Brian K. Vaughan, George Perez, and Marc Silvestri. There will be three full-feature anime screenings of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society, Blade of the Phantom Master, and Shinobi (note: Shinobi isn't animated, but it is a stunning piece of Japanese cinema rarely played in the US).
