Giving to those who are truly in need

=ImaRawkStar:iconImaRawkStar: reports, December 23
This is the time of year of which we all get tangled up in our own troubles and do not focus on some of the real issues of the world. Well, heifer.org can help us with this, by giving animals to families who are truly in need of food, shelter and security.

By donating a small sum of money, such as ten to twenty dollars, you could provide a family with an animal such as a cow, which could produce milk for the family, for food and cooking. With the extra milk it produces, the family can go to the local market and sell the milk to gain more money, which could go towards food and shelter. Over time, the family will start to gain an income and will be able to earn an education.

With the education, they can receive a steady job and produce a stable income for the family to survive. Just by donating a small sum of money, you could not change one life, but many around them. But this is not just it, the family MUST produce offspring to give to another family, which will do the same thing as the family before. Over time, the community will grow and sooner or later, the impoverished areas will start to gain strength.

Even if you can not donate any money, please donate a few seconds or minutes by adding a favorite to this article and sending it on to other deviants around deviantart. It would be really awesome if we could get some support on this, and maybe as an art community we can pull together to help others in need! I know it can be done!

SAAM Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April

=crystalofchaos:iconcrystalofchaos: reports, 22h 36m ago
Rape is not just a crime, it is a heinous and personal invasion on the most intimate of levels. Rape destroys lives and belittles its victims. End the silence, conquer fear, and speak up. We need to raise awareness and help prevent this inhumane crime.

Happy Christmas!

Curious Inclinations!

~tarynheart:icontarynheart: reports, February 1, 2007
While browsing through the favourites of the people on my watchlist, I noticed a curious trend. Perhaps you've noticed it too, or perhaps you've been subject to it yourself.

Often times, male deviants are more inclined to like images with geometric patterns and especially parallel lines. Conversely, female deviants are more likely to enjoy images that feature soft subjects and elegant lines.

So let's test the theory! Here are some thumbs for both men and women to enjoy.

Men:

Women:

Feel free to disagree with me! The best part about this is hearing your opinions on the subject. :D

Thats a very interesting find! I have to say though, I liked stuff from both of them so I don't think the trend is definite. Still an interesting find though!
:iconomahanebraska:
Ha, quite a curious correlation, i must say! I agree with you on this one, most of the women's photos you posted are either in my favs or i have been admiring before, while only 2 of mens were either in my favorites or had caught my eye.

I speak of the pompitous of love
:iconshards-ofthe-soul:
Heh, I agree with your observation. In general, I disliked the "men's" photos while the "women's" photos I liked more and felt more of a synergy with.
:icontfavretto:
Haha, this is very interesting. And it seems to be true for me, as I find more of the "men's" shots to be more appealing. Also, thank you for including one of my shots in this demonstration, I appreciate it!
:iconthundermistress:
Although I've never really taken a real obvious note of it, I've always been somewhat aware of it xD

Most of the male photographers I watch, a loot of architecture and street photography, lots of geometrics :B If i had a quick look through my devwatch list I can easily list a few xD

Funnily enough, this different approach to the same art, is very evident in other fields as well. I went to an all girls high school, so during the break, our graphics class went to an all boys school to work on our folios. Our approach to designing was so different! The girl's work pages were always, beautifully presented, brightly coloured, very neat and often, the designs were very curvaceous.
On the other hand, the boy's work pages were very rough, their sketches were very technical and their use of colour was not as exuberant as the females :3

So there you go xD

Interesting topic to bring up <3 Thanks for including one of my photos! n__n <3
:iconberylalexandros:
I liked one of the 'Men' ones and three of the 'Women' ones. And I'm a woman, so... yeah, I guess you're kind of right.

haha i never really noticed that.
it's probably true though.. although i've probably [or at least i think] gotta be the "odd girl out" so to say.
idk.. i'm not really a math person or anything; but i guess i think more along the lines of design [haha no pun intended] so i'm more drawn usually to the strong geometric photos and stuff.. but i'm also drawn to the softer lines too. usually it's more of a combination of both plus awesome color tones that get me. =D

I want so badly to believe that there is truth and love is real.
And I want life in every word to the exstent that it's absurd.
:iconautumnsxfalling:
oh uh i guess since everyone was stating..
I personally enjoyed more of the men.. i ended up really liking 8 [well really 9 of them.. but since one of them is mine, i can't really say much ] of them..
while on the other hand i really only liked about 4 of the wemon's.

like I said, i'm the odd girl out.
