Technologic - Animated Community Project Part I

~RJ815:iconRJ815: reports, February 18, 2007
All respective rights to the song "Technologic" belong to their respective owners, namely the band "Daft Punk". And yes, I do realize that's redundant.

Do you like the band Daft Punk and/or their music? Do you link the song “Technologic”? Do you want to participate in a community project whose end result will be a fairly long animation? If so, please read on.

What is it?
This is a collaborative project open to anyone who wishes to enter. It’s based on the song “Technologic” by Daft Punk. Each entry will be used as a few frames for the final animation of the project.

What are the rules?
* Your entry must not exceed fifty by fifty pixels, though you may want to make it smaller so it won’t be obscured by the text.
* Your entry must be in a form of digital art. However, pixel or emoticon art is preferred.
* Your entry must be related to the theme you choose in some way. For instance, if you choose the “Burn It”, you could have a flame. If you choose “Format It”, you could do something like a floppy disk. Be creative! The more creative you can be under the restraints and limitations, the better!
* Your entry must not contain any content that could be considered Mature. This includes excessive violence, sexual themes, swearing, controversial content, et cetera. If your entry contains anything that could be considered “Mature”, it will not be considered for addition.
* If you want to add an unanimated entry, you can submit it to DA and notify me so I can add it.
* If you want to add an animated entry, you have a choice. You can either email (rj808@msn.com) me the .psd (Photoshop File) or each frame separated in some way. Obviously, if you don’t use Photoshop and wish to submit an animated file, you must use the second entry method. Please note that there is a limit to how many frames of animation you can submit. “Normal Spots” (containing “It”) can be at most five frames long. “Short Spots” (containing a hyphen “-”) can be at most three frames long. “Long Spots” (containing the Technologic syllables) can be at most twelve frames long. Obviously, I’m not looking for incredibly long animation here. A simple loop or completely unanimated entry will do.
* Please notify me of your entry ahead of time so you can reserve a spot. For changes in availability, please check here regularly.

When does this project end?
The first part of this project (collecting entries) will end as soon as sixty-four entries can be gathered. The second part of the project (animating all the entries and post-processing) will most likely be completely solely by me. If there is continued interest and strong support towards this project (and if at least sixty four entries have already been collected), there is a good chance the project will be extended to a maximum of three hundred and sixty eight entries (more information on that later if it occurs).

When the second part of the project is complete, the full and final animation will be released for viewing.

How often will this project be updated?
Updates are primarily based on the number of entries received over a period of time. I shall be the one to determine whether or not the current influx of entries deserves an update or not. Most likely, the project will be updated once per day at a time between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

I will try to update the spot availability in this journal as often as possible.

Can you give me a preview of what the project will look like?
Yes, the following links should provide with at least some idea of what the final animation will look like before it is released. A bit more information is also available on those pages.

Animation Preview
Status on Current Entries (Currently, you must download it to view.) This page contains the first frame of each of the entries currently available. For now, it displays only sixty-four entries, which are the only ones required for advancement.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?
If you wish to contact me, you can do so through deviantART (Here or here.) or through my personal e-mail address (rj808@msn.com).

You are forewarned that if you use any form of purposefully botched English to communicate with me, you are unlikely to receive a full reply. Abbreviations, slang, and the like are all accepted as long as I can understand what you're trying to say.

Thanks! I hope this project will be a success.

I won't say which I'd like to do, until I know when I'll be able to start it. :aww:

Sounds interesting. May I lay claim to "call it" then?

Surely. Although, if you haven't, you may want to look here for a few updates on the rules and a different method of submission.
