With a mere 7 months of development, the Blender team has turned out version 2.43 of the popular open source 3D modeling and rendering software.
The list of additions and improvements is a long one, but highlights include:
--
Sculpt Mode: Think ZBrush. "Paint" a mesh with various brushes instead of modifying geometry directly.
--
Render Passes: The rendering pipeline has been highly modified to allow separate rendering passes.
--
Retopo Tool: "
The retopo tools make it easier to completely change the topology of a mesh while preserving the same basic shape."
Plus around 20 other major changes including modifier upgrades, image painting improvements, and render baking!
