Hosted by the Creature Society club, this event is inspired by the Secret Santas that pop up around November and December. But our mission here: Expose Deviantart's creature designers to the creations of fellow dA artists!
I have secured a month of wall time for selected artists to show their prints in an actual physical space. in this case, the Barefoot Coffee Roasters in Santa Clara, California. I showed my own work there several months ago, and the response was not only positive, but several sales resulted.
Now in April, I will be posting the prints of various DA artists. Some have already been selected, and I am still looking for candidates who are interested and willing to send me selected prints for inclusion before the shipping deadline of March 21.
The way this works is I will select works based on what gets submitted, and if agreed to, you send me a print of said work or works. I take care of receipt, framing and placement, as well as putting your name, bio and contact info on the wall.
If a postage paid return container is supplied, then I will happily return your work(s) to you at the end of the show.
All genres are acceptable, although since this is a cafe, there are content limits that will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
For those interested, please contact me directly via my DA email or in notes.
If it works remotely well, I am going to try to recreate it in other local venues, and hopefully the idea can scale to other locations as a way of working to promote artists and their prints by using the actual print system to be not just the revenue stream for an artist, but also as a marketing tool.
Definitely. If it catches on, I could see a system put in place where organizers could (with permission, of course), order the prints at base price directly to the gallery space, rather than relying on the artist to send it in. It's a brilliant idea and I'm very interested to hear how it works out.

I am doubtful something like that could happen, but I could see DevMeets being used to pool resources towards a similar end, where contacts pool other contacts.

I am interested in getting it to work out.
The Barefoot people were terrible good to me personally, and I ended up selling a lot of my work off the wall itself. I have no intent of doing that this time around (I do not want to be a middle person in any transactions with other people's works myself), but I know in the month I was there I also got some decent DA Prints traffic, so...
We want to know what love means to you!
Get your creative juices flowing and design a movie poster for "Paper Heart" that focuses on the theme "What Does Love Mean to Me?".
