Hope your friday was a good one.

fotoFRIDAY's twenty-fifth week anniversary closed in, we decided to celebrate by holding a contest based on a photo prompt. We received many fantastic and well-written pieces of both poetry and prose; it was an absolute pleasure to read all of your work and see how each person reacted differently to the photo provided.
And from all those wonderful pieces, we chose two winners that went above and beyond. Not only were they excellent examples of poetry and prose, but offered unique perspectives and were presented as finished or nearly finished pieces.
We present to you the winners!
Prose:

What is fotoFRIDAY?
*
fotoFRIDAY, originally began on PoetryCritical by a fellow named onkelcripsy, is a weekly photo-based writing prompt. Recently revived at PoetryCritical, `
youthculture thought it would be a fantastic idea to carry the concept over to dA and expand it to include poetry and prose.
The concept is simple: write a poem or story inspired by the week's picture. There are no line requirements, and the author can choose to be as literal or figurative with his/her interpretation as s/he'd like.
In 2006, fotoFriday earned `
youthculture an award as a senior dA staff member for "bringing together visual artists and writers by inspiring art with art". It has been applauded and honored by senior members and gallery directors throughout the dA community and continues to inspire countless artists on dA and beyond. In January 2007 `
alienhead even published a short novel,
A Life Transparent, originally conceived from a fotoFriday prompt.

Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better.

Critiquing someone's prose or poetry is an awesome thing to do.
great work
I find it a bit weird that my story
"The Snow Ball Couple" isn't among the entries because I did send it to the contest and I thought I had sent it correctly, but it doesn't matter.
Once again, congratulations to the winners, I will read the entries today.
It was a fantastic competition and the prizes were gorgeous!

Swim with me into your blackest eyes.
I haven't noticed this before, I always thought it was about photography because of the name, now I know it's not!
Great idea! (sorry if that's becoming a repetitive phrase you hear!
