Title: Modern Quixotic
My new Fall/Winter 07 collection entry for the DA fashion week is called Modern Quixotic.
This collection initially started out as a strictly Victorian, Gothic, and Edwardian collection. It was heavily based off of period pieces and various historical references. But as it evolved it stared to turn into a more romantic collection. Modern elements were thrown in along with a bit of a sixties flare, and I created modern quixotic. The term quixotic means unrealistic or not sensible which I though of as a romantic escape from reality. Modern Quixotic is for the contemporary romantic.
Modern Quixotic-a romantic escape from reality.
Romanticism meets modernism.
Feminine with an edge.

Title: Winter Regalia
A collection of gowns and day dresses, coats and cloaks, baubled crowns and winter caps.
Things that I imagine a Snow or Ice Queen wearing. Regalia was a perfect description of this collection since it means, "The emblems and symbols of royalty, such as the crown and scepter" and, "Magnificent attire; finery."
The look of each queen is supposed to be magnificent. I imagine d them having very wild, sculptural hair that is strewn with baubles and adorned with crowns and winter hats. The make-up is fantastical, giving the queens a bruised or frost bitten look.
Fabrics include, Silk Cashmere, faux fur, velvet, suede, Filament silk, Dupioni Silk, Silk Charmeuse, Organza and Gabardine Wool. I choose natural fabrics because of their warmth and function in cold weather. For example, filament silk is really warm because it insulates the body and is water repellent.

Title: Extravagant Journey
The romantic feel of this collection inspires feelings of riding, travel, and luxury. It is characterized by flowing fabrics combined with structured silhouettes. Contrasting textures are key. Fabrications include tooled leather, brodcade, velvet, satin, chiffon, and suede. The palette begins with soft browns and taupes, is accompanied by a range of blues, and popped with crimson.
I've really enjoyed designing my own garments again.
Come back Tomorrow for Day Three of Fashion Week!

I have always tried to design things that are unapologetically beautiful, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If I can inspire an appreciation for grace and elegance, that would be the ultimate fulfillment of my life's ambition.
