Gallery Updates

We have been working on the gallery descriptions for the submission process. Most of the categories in Manga/Anime don't even have a description so we are trying to remedy that. Also, the new categories are coming soon, so we don't want to work too hard, just to have it disappear ha ha!

Most of you are also aware that the categories are being restructured to include a ton of subcategories for Manga/Anime! Excited? You should be. It is going to be great. Watch out for newsletters explaining all the sections and giving you more information on that once it's available. We plan on educating people with a hammer. We worked really hard to bring you these categories, and now $Moonbeam13 is working harder than we did to get all the categories for all the galleries setup! I think she deserves a little love!

Having said all this, can we please hold off complaining, or suggesting new categories until after they are posted. You don't know all of what's going up, let's give them a chance instead of assuming it won't be good. This is silliness indeed because it *is* going to be great. Manga/Anime is getting most.. if not ALL of the categories that the community has been crying about since the category was split off, so you should be happy. This will also reduce the miscats a great deal.

Miscats have reduced significantly for our category. Yes, believe it or not, photos of your dog Rex don't belong in Manga/Anime!

But mostly, there has always been Fanart categories on dA, and always will be. Please use them. This isn't a new category, or anything hard to read or interpret. If it's fanart, place it in Fanart. Easy peasy lemon squeazy That's what we get the most for miscats. It's not just us, it's every gallery, especially the big ones.


Again, as always, if you have some confusion over the gallery descriptions, or you have issues with something with the gallery, we are available to hear you. Journals of an insulting nature won't get anything done but to make us shake our heads. We have been working on the categories, and continue to do so. Our only goal on here as gallery directors is to improve Manga/Anime galleries, and connect to the community. We always take members feedback to the higher ups, or explain reasons things are, or are not being done the way you want it to be. Remember, for your opinion, there are also 3 million others. Make your voice heard by taking the proper avenues to get your suggestions noticed. You may find that something is already being implemented. So you would have wasted your time complaining about it. BOO...


In other news, feel free to submit your own Mini contest themes to us. We would love to see what you guys want for our contests. Simple one word themes please. Send either of us a note!



Top News

^guruubii took a short break from accepting DD submissions but I am back to accepting them. So keep sending them to both of us! We want them!

But please always remember to read our DD suggestion guidelines carefully, in order to avoid any misunderstandings, such as wrong categories, too popular pieces and so on.


When we review the miscat reports we get, we tend to see some trends. We still seem to be plagued with fanart being thrown in the mix with other work. Another big one, is traditional art being placed in Digital Art categories. Please read the galleries descriptions when you place your work in the galleries, not only in Manga/Anime, but everywhere. It's so important. We don't like having to waste our time moving such stuff to where it obviously should be. We much prefer running contests and events for you guys.


Something we see a lot of is sexual behavior being reported as "broken section rules". Please report it as "inappropriate nudity" Then it will go to CEA. And please DO report it.

Judging the bi-weekly contests has been a blast so far! We have had a great deal more participation than we ever dreamed! The next one will be posted tomorrow (Thursday)! Convention Appearances

February 24 NY ComiCon 5:00PM at the TOKYOPOP booth.

Be there on time - we're meeting briefly and wandering the con floor. Look for and she will tag you with a sticker so that you can spot out other deviants more easily.

We Recommend

The spring is almost here, so maybe you'll think about the spring cleaning? Look into your gallery, at the oldest submissions and decide whether they're still worth being there. Perhaps you've got so much better at drawing/painting that you don't want people to see your old skills! Delete them or move to scraps, make your gallery a more friendly and neat place for you and your watchers!


Also, we'd like to tell you about the newly created club, ~Clubof100Themes. Do you often sit above the empty piece of paper and wonder what to draw? All of us have the problem of lack of ideas sometimes. By joining this club, you take up a challenge to draw 100 pictures with the listed themes! There isn't any time limit, so always, when you don't know what to draw, you can pick one of these themes. Don't hesitate and join today!
