$lolly's DVD Review...Crank!

lolly:iconlolly: reports, March 5, 2007
Crank. A perfect name for one of the most unadulteratedly fun movies I have seen this year. The plot is fairly simple at face value. Chev (Jason Statham) is a hit man. A bad, bad violent studly old hit man. He awakes to find he has been dosed with a drug that will kill him within an hour unless he keeps his adrenaline up.

$lolly's DVD Review...Crank!

lolly:iconlolly: reports, March 5, 2007
Crank-Starring Jason Statham, Amy Smart, Jose Pabloe Cantillo, and Dwight Yoakam

There are about 5 minutes of lights, camera and then it goes straight to pure blissfully frenetic action. 90 some odd minutes of it.
Beautifully filmed with many unexpected camera shots, drug freak outs and an outrageous public sex scene and a constant piledriving sound track, the movie constantly delivers on its name and premise and about midway through you realize it is not just another dumb action movie.
It would almost be fair to say it is a satire of all things action. It rolls out every cliché in the book and then brutally stomps, shoots, stabs and bludgeons them all into something new and often times funny.
And the ending, well, I won't ruin it for you, but it is not the stock fare of this sort of feature.

So if you dig action movies that truly deliver action along with a dose of surreal violence, go check it out and ignore any of the misleadingly bad trailers you have seen for it!
