Photo-Manipulation Love!

=ClockworkDesigns:iconClockworkDesigns: reports, 1d 16h ago
These are photo-manipulations that have been chosen based on the amount of creativity put into them or the type of techniques used to create such eye candy. Some of these people are fairly unknown and I wanted to give them an opportunity to be seen by the public. Please show the artists your support! :D

Has there ever been a How To for this type of art? how much influence/control does the artist have?

Am I wrong in thinking this is the result of random...ness, similar to visualisations on media players?

There are many tutorials available for Apophysis, you can find them all throughout dA and also at *Apophysis in the resource journal. :)

The only thing that the program does is handle the mathematical equations and place the dots appropriately. The artist chooses and designs the shapes, colors, and overall composition.

There is a random batch generator, that you can use for inspiration or that new artists can use to get a good idea how to use the program. But artists such as =MichaelFaber, =JoelFaber, who understand the math behind the formulae, can never be accused of random generation, they are in complete control of the program and creation of their art. Other, more intermediate artists such as myself, who have somewhat of a layman's working understanding of the program, may not always know exactly what they'll achieve when sitting down to the program, but manipulate it well and work hard doing so. It absolutely has no relation to media player visualization. The computer does very little of the work.

Hope that answers your questions and clears up your misconceptions! :)

Sorry, I don't think theres a subscription, and I don't always get out the issues on time. :( Like this one. But if you look at the *Apophysis front page, on the left under the gallery, there is a place that shows the submitted news articles and links to them. There you'll find them all! :D Hope that helps.

Thanks! My artistic tastes don't lie in this area but I'd like to at least know how it's done.
