I Am A Child

*nine9nine9:iconnine9nine9: reports, 5h 30m ago
My little girl is so magical. With a smile she can brighten my world. The glow in her eyes when she tells one of her stories melts away all of the day's problems and concerns. For me, having a child and being able to participate in her life, watch her grow and absorb the wonders of the world, completes me as a human being.

For my latest journal feature I am presenting a visual essay on children -- works by DA artists that beg to ask the question, "Is there anything more pure, more magical than a child?" Breaking up the photos are lyrics from Neil Young's brilliant song about children, "I Am A Child." If you want to listen to Neil's song while viewing the essay, right click on [link]

Please fave and comment on works you like -- it is the least we can do to honor the efforts of these amazing artists!

In our life there is a single colour, as on an artist's palette, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the colour of love.

Photo Journey DeviantART Exposed!

*AbidingDaRules:iconAbidingDaRules: reports, March 25, 2007
Do you know how to get more exposure?

Thats probably the biggest question and hunt around here on DA.Some just submit and leave it at that.Hoping they get noticed amongst the millions. Yes, Millions. Do you have any idea how many people are actually on this site? Last count (rough estimate) over 2 million. :faint:

Others on the other hand join clubs to get their work noticed. There are alot of groups on DA. Most come and go unnoticed. Some have been around for a pretty good while and are doing pretty good. A lot of them pop up and just don't have what it takes to keep going. Participation and community is what makes a group a good one. DA doesn't really have an official listing for all their groups.

Some deviants have made listings of the clubs that are running. One good one that seems to have updated listings is *DA-club-yellowpages.

Getting the *Ex-po-zure is what alot of us want. It's what we need! I know we are all here for different reasons but deep down we want to be noticed. We want the favorites and page views. We want and crave the attention. We submit our work and eagerly await for critique, comments and favs. It's nice to have someone like what you are doing. Not only are you getting praise but, learning as well. I have learned so much about photography from this site and it's members. More so I would say from here than manuals and books on the subject. Something about actually seeing it beingdone versus reading about it and trying to figure it out on my own.

My main goal for this feature was to make people aware of groups and what it takes to make it a great one. The person running the group has to be involved and organized. The members have to do the same. They have to participate and spread the word. Use your journals folks! You have
your own promotion right there. Direct someone to the groups your involved in and they will see your work along with so many others.

A group I want to feature is one that came in a year ago and blossomed into a well known group. They have since on their 1st birthday taken a hiatus. With a whopping 1700 members and growing they were on there way to becoming a major group here on DA!

As stated by *babyducks "We are taking a very long break at least a month or maybe two". They hope to return soon!

*babyducks along with *WaitingForTheWorms,*jsymphony and *Reedabah ran this fantastic group. This group became so popular because of the freedom that was given to it's members.

Here, Let *babyducks explain..

** As quoted from *Ex-po-zure and *babyducks **

"As a member of DA, and as a novice photographer myself, like you I explored many ways to get noticed,to get feedback and attention on my work. I joined many clubs, and I've left many clubs.
I have experienced the good and the bad. But, the good and the bad are different for everyone.
Maybe I shouldn't refer to them as "good" or "bad", but merely clubs that did not necessarily meet my needs.
I encountered clubs that would select only a "few" of their members for features,
I encountered clubs that would expect your photography to be near "perfect" to get a feature.
I encountered clubs that would require you to "win" a contest to get featured.
I just wanted a "club" that would feature my work, get it out there, no criteria.
A club that wouldn't make me feel less than someone else.
I also encountered clubs that as a result of their growth, had to cut way down on how much they featured. (we are now doing the same)
(As an Administrator of a Club I do not hold this against them, I understand more than anyone just how difficult it is to keep up with a fast growing popular club).
But, (I know you shouldn't start a sentence with but :D) But, these kinds of changes affected my ability to get the attention I needed and wanted.
*Ex-po-zure was born out of all the issues that I encountered.

** end quote**

The work that *babyducks,*WaitingForTheWorms,:jsymphony: and *Reedabah has paid off! Look at the following this group has. So many out there can be this great!

****Ex-po-zure is closed for submissions. You can stop by and enjoy there gallery. Please do not fave in the group.
Follow the links to the original and fav there! Support the artist!
That is what it's all about!

Ok enough of the rambling here is what having *Ex-po-zure can do for you!

There are so many more. Check their gallery. They have over 2000 deviations to go through.
*Ex-po-zure is CLOSED! If you are interested I would suggest watching the club for future updates.

Now some Love for the Admins!
