Fans of Tolkien's tales of Middle Earth, Elves, and Orcs - made famous in such works as The Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion - will be thrilled to hear that another epic novel, The Children Of Hurin, has been painstakingly compiled from notes and drafts left after Tolkien's death.

The Children of Húrin takes the reader back to a time long before The Lord of the Rings, in an area of Middle-earth that was to be drowned before ever Hobbits appeared, and when the great enemy was still the fallen Vala, Morgoth, and Sauron only his lieutenant. The story was originally one of a trilogy set in the heroic First Age of Middle Earth, but all remained unfinished and unpublished after the author's death. It was the work of Tolkien's son Christopher in assembling the various drafts, notes, and scraps of paper that has completed the story as a standalone work.
