After a long struggle with various health problems, including sleep apnia and pneumonia, Drew Hayes, creator of the cult classic comic series Poison Elves, has died of a heart attack at the age of 37 on March 27th, 2007. For those who didn't know him, Drew Hayes, the creator, writer, and artist of the series Poison Elves was one of my greatest inspirations. No one had a talent for spinning a tale interweaving humor, violence, sarcasm, and pointy ears the way he did.

His story of the rogue elf Lusiphur started out as a small self-published endeavor which soon grew to attract a loyal following. Drew fought tooth and nail to tell his story, suffering through publishing troubles and health problems until he came to the resolution that he would continue the series after a long relapse due to health issues. Poison Elves had a promising future ahead, but with Drew gone, it is up to us, the fans, to keep his vision and stories alive.

In honor of Drew, I am asking that fans of the series send me images of their cosplay of Drew's characters so that I might add them to a tribute website I am planning to create in his honor.
