This is especially useful for portraits, conveying a dreamy, melancholic atmosphere and as an artistic expression. The easiest way to achieve small DOF is to take the picture from a small distance and with a greater aperture. dA is abundant with beautiful examples with this effect.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to be doing features of these categories. The features will come from the thread in Thumbshare and from browsing. Feel free to head over to the thread [link] and add any you want considered or note me with any suggestions.
