Talent-Scope is a monthly news article aimed to be featured each first weekend of the month to give a platform for emerging artists and spotting hidden talents while celebrating even better pictures that deserve more exposure!
Diptych may sound a little cryptic when first coming across the word, but reading a definition from Merriam-Webster Online clears things up and reveals that we have to do with a way of composing a piece of art.
Main Entry: dip·tych
Pronunciation: 'dip-(")tik
Function: noun
Etymology: Late Latin diptycha, plural, from Greek, from neuter plural of diptychos folded in two, from di- + ptychE fold
1 : a 2-leaved hinged tablet folding together to protect writing on its waxed surfaces
2 : a picture or series of pictures (as an altarpiece) painted or carved on two hinged tablets
3 : a work made up of two matching parts
Diptych can be an interesting and striking way of composing a picture and telling a story, and dA is of course full of such examples. I've selected some, in various media and styles, to present here. Please enjoy, give the fine artists some love and stay tuned for the next article where we add an extra part and explore triptych.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
