Whether We live with horses, visit horses, love horses, or all of these, everyone knows that horses are our medicane, and we can't live without them. Horses give us a sense of tranquility or peace. When we need it we can walk into our back yard for a breather, but instead find your eager Equine at the front gate, ears erect, sniffing the air for that carrot you forgot you had in your pocket. No matter how far you go back, where you are in the world, or what's on the television, there's always something to do with Equines.
Sadly enough these equines have faced much hardship in trying to earn our hearts. We put them through starvation, neglect, beatings, and slaughter. Luckily enough, there is enough people in the world that are willing to rescue and protect these wonderful beasts even if it means not all can be saved.
We are, infact, lucky that on 7th September 2006, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 263-146 to outlaw the slaughter of horses for human consumption. They said it was humane, and that all the horses were old, sick, injured, crazy, or dying, but infact, 90% of horses slaughtered for human consumption are young, healthy, sound horses who deserve a better life.
We have given them that life. More do deserve that life, and just by looking into a horse's eyes we see their natural beauty, wisdom, and thrive for more.
