Welcome to Three Songs issue number 3, where each month I will feature some of the best eye catching Music Photography on deviantART from around the world.
Why the name "Three Songs"?
Most media access passes will only allow you to shoot the very first three songs of an act and then you must move on, sometimes you get lucky and can stay for a complete set but that is very very rare.
So here at Three Songs you wont find cute kitties, selected coloured art or work with limited favourites just mother fuckin' rock-pop-n-roll!

Hints and Tips:
Here you are camera in hand, your support act is about to come on and the lights go low so low in fact you can't see your camera in front of your face. Oh no! where did all the lights go, and what if this is at light as it's going to get?
Hint 2.
Lights and Lighting
Sometimes when you are in a club, pub or just some crummy rat hole you're bound to get little or no lighting and this sucks! Most of the time the place will filter everything in red, greens or blues it's sets the mood and looks great until you take the photo and check it out later and everything looks like something from a bad nightmare you had after watching that Chicks on Speed film clip We don't play guitars

I think it's time to pick the right time to shoot between the lights flicking from red to blue to green to white!
Tip 2.
Choosing the correct settings
Sometimes it's all about the timing, you don't want to shoot on the full on red light but if you get just as it turns blue or half way to white you'll get a nice shot every time, but it's not that easy to pick. By the time you get the timing right they change the light sequence! dammit!
Keep your Aperture high 1.8 is great so is 2.8 4.0 might be pushing, or keep a shutter speed of around 60-80 and let the Aperture work itself out. As before in tip 1 ISO is also a key factor in the whole lighting debacle, try 400 and see how it feels but 800 will get you through and keep a sharper picture. Besides Photoshop can help with the sharpness of the overall image.
*Remember you can note me your suggestions. I'm after live music photography it needs to be in focus, interesting and not your own work.
