The theory is that New Age music is good music: good for mind, body, and soul. Researchers report that individuals who listen regularly to music of the New Age genre are healthier, happier individuals. Most attribute this to the relaxing and stress-relieving properties of this type of music.
Being a huge music fan (composer and pianist myself), and seeing almost no serious or alive music channel in dAmn, I decided to bring to dAmn my own idea of a proper music channel, knowing that there far more music lovers than we all think
Everyone has commited the act of turning to music as their sort of entertainment. Wheather your depressed, bored, or using it to do your daily artwork, you probably love your "own type" of music. Actually, some current discrimination names such as "labels" are based off of music genres. "Gothic" and "Emo" are common labels these days, and their also music genres. The following explainations are long and specific, but it may actually help some of you realize the difference between them. I also have some examples for some of them. Now why would I go about doing something like this? I did this because of a few reasons:
I heard a lot of people discussing about music tastes, and how confused they were at the music's difference.
I wanted to make a point to people that a lot of labels are simply just musical genres, not insults. So the next time someone calls you emo, say something like: "Well emo's a music type, since that's pretty popular, I must be too". Er something like that...I was never good at comebacks.
I also saw that itunes wasn't really giving a wide variety of genres like limewire does, I mean I know there's a lot out there, but I like things organized in specific ways.
Itunes wasn't really catagorizing artists correctly. Evanescence isn't alternative. It's gothic rock. Gym Class Heros aren't rock, their emo.
Okay...cue the long list of music types, Ash!

FINALLY I AM NOT ALONE!!! I have felt this almost my entire life! Bravo to you for this. I agree that itunes sucks for genre classification and they have next to nothing on there. They don't even have extremely popular spanish rock bands on there like Liquits!
"...a lot of labels are simply just musical genres, not insults." it's only recently that I have actualy realised this, so good point on that!
Oh I totally agree. I was getting pissed off at itunes for...a lot of things. I understand theirs a lot of music genres, but they could of at least had more "sub genres" like under rock, have Black Metal, Symphonic, Progressive, ect.
