Thrice the pleasure - triptych features

=chakrabird:iconchakrabird: reports, Apr 16, 2007
A couple of weeks ago we had a look at some of the great diptych work here at dA: When two become one - diptych features. Today it's time to add an extra part and enjoy a bunch of great triptychs. :-)

Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:
Main Entry: triptych
Pronunciation: 'trip-(")tik
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek triptychos having three folds, from tri- + ptychE fold
1 : an ancient Roman writing tablet with three waxed leaves hinged together
2 a : a picture (as an altarpiece) or carving in three panels side by side b : something composed or presented in three parts or sections; especially trilogy.

As the entry in Merriam-Webster informs us triptych is an old technique but it's still very much alive and kicking here on dA in various forms and media, getting experimented with over and over and often with amazing results. I've selected some for your inspiration and enjoyment, so please give these great artists some deserving love.

And the tych-goodness does not end here, more panels can be added and soon in another article we will explore four panels or more. If you like what you see in these articles keep an eye on the news section for an upcoming regular feature of tychs in all their glory. :D
