Are you bored? Do you own a digital camera? Well then this is the right place for you. *photohunt is a game for all photographers. The rules are you are given a topic and then you have 20 minutes to go off and shoot it. ( the image must be new and taken within the 20 minutes) You then come back and do minor adjustments to it such as contrast and converting to black and white if u want. Then you thumb it in the chat and you are judged. If you win your shot will be posted in the journal. Sound fun? Well it is. But beware it is addicting. So if you are ready to start hunting then stop by here ------>Photohunt Chat <-------- and join in on all the fun Hope to see you all soon
Most big name artists can only claim masterpiece on a small portion of their work, but I think that masterpiece and acceptable for personal exhibition are two highly separate things.
I'm reading this and realizing how arrogant I sound, but I feel that personal restraint is what makes or breaks an artists respectability, and as a studying photographer I've seen many people making the same mistakes over and over again; either w/o realizing that they are pursuing a mistake or simply because the value or participation is to strong when compared against artistic merit here at DA.
(I hope thats understandable, I sometimes pause while writing to think and end up spewing garbage that makes no sense, hehe)
What I'm trying to say here (and again if my spiel comes off as pure arrogance then I apologize) is that: its a shame when content beats quality when people are considering the merits of art. Granted the concept behind photohunt is getting that image that befits best the 'theme' but....
Is it not the leader of a photographic group's responsibility to discourage that same aforementioned unfair weighing of merits? That is to say, if the participants in a contest cant put up a front of quality, then wouldn't it do the group more harm than good to reward the result?
again, sorry about the arrogance that pervades what I said, but if my point came across then I'm sure you will understand that I could think of no better way to explain it.
Kind regards

hey I know what you mean. I used to play photohunt a lot, I don't so much now mostly for lack of time. But I hated it when they judged they didn't necessarily judge on the quality of the image but the content. However, when I judged I did quality then content. Wish more judges did it that way. That would make the competition more driven to succeed in the game as well as in their work.

The group is just for fun. Its to help the photographers improve and believe me I've been seeing a lot of people improve. Ur welcome to stop by and give pointers if you would like.
I hope you understand that these photographs are taken in 20 minutes, without any warning of the subject. Your thinking and creativity needs to be fast. Granted you don't get Daily Deviation from these contests but you test your photographic skill in a different way.
We don't get allot of "professional" photographers on photo-hunt because they are scared of loosing their reputation. With deviation you get to run through your bad photos before submitting, but here you send what you took. This is not an easy thing to do and the fact that we get even photo's of this quality is outstanding. Frankly I don't think professionals are up to the challenge, or at least too scared it might not equal to their DD.
