Pick five different genres and write the same scene in that style. Feel free to be flexible to fit each style but try to stick with the same idea. Also, be goofy. This competition is supposed to be fun while allowing you to stretch your creative wings.
Each blurb need not be more than 200-400 words but we are not giving strict limits.
Suggested Genres:
Fantasy
Western
Horror
Comedy.
Science Fiction
Romance
Film Noir
Judging:
Your work will be judged on:
- Successful relation of the genre The judges should be able to tell what style you are using without you telling us.
- Polished Style we want correct grammar, a good voice and a clear progression of the plot.
- Context Clues since you are just writing one scene were not asking for the entire story but we want to have enough clues that we can fill in the gaps. Give us hints to how the characters are connected to each other and such. (Of course, depending on the scene you write this might not be as important).
- Creativity Tell me a story sticks in our mind. You are writing in styles that have been used over and over again but that doesnt mean your plot has to be tired, wow us with your imagination.
- Emotion Make me feel something. Dont just tell a story, show us a story that touches, whether we laugh or cry or balk in horror.
Will Run Through May (12:00 central time May 31st) Were giving you plenty of time so ask others for critiques before submitting. Polish it till it squeaks.
We Will Judge Through June Since were asking so much of you we will not take our judging duties lightly.

You don't know me.
So don't act like you do.
Don't ask me either,
'Cause I too don't have a clue.
