Prose for Points!

^StJoan:iconStJoan: reports, May 7, 2007
Want stuff? Don't have cash? Want exposure? Can't seem to get it?
I have your answer right here!

All you have to do is answer a few questions!

It works kind of like a mixture of an English assignment and an arcade. What do I mean?
Well it's simple! In each chapter of my two books I have a question in the artist comments all you have to do is answer it and you'll be awarded points!

:bulletpurple:Why am I doing this?
Also I know one of the main reasons people cite for not commenting on lit is that they don't know what to say. Well now with ProsePoints you'll have a prompt to respond to not only to let me know that you're reading but also that you're understanding.
This helps me of course but it also helps you!

:bulletpurple:Points will be awarded out a 10 point field.
(1 point for a post that i can tell is about the question through 10 points for just getting INTO it with a well thought out argument and of course everything in between accordingly)

:bulletpurple:What do I do with these points?
Give you stuff.
Yeah. I'll keep track of your points, keep them in a running tally
and at different set milestones you'll be able to cash them in for things like features, mass comments from me, and at the higher ends prints and subs of various costs.

:bulletpurple: What are the prizes and points?

Prizes

Turn in 25- Get a featured piece in my journal for a week

Turn in 50 points: Three quality comments/ Unique favs (ie if I comment on a piece and fav it that doesn't take up one of your three)

Turn in 70: Get a journal dedicated to you for a week

Turn in 90: Get a one month sub

Turn in 125: Get a three month sub

Turn in 150: Get a small print not to exceed 10 dollars

Turn in 200: Get a devwear patch

Big Prizes:
Turn in 450: Get a Mug of your choice

Turn in 525: Get a year subscription

Turn in 600: Get a print of your choice not to exceed $35 dollars US

Like at an arcade you can turn in your points at any time and as often as you'd like. So if you wanted 15 comments from me you'd turn in 50 points five times
Or if you wanted a featured three pieces in my journal you could turn in 75 points! They add up quickly!

Sound good?
The Betrayer's Promise

TGTD

Each of those are the first chapter of each book. The neat thing about most of the questions is that you don't have to have read the previous ones to answer it.
That means you can answer as much or as little as you want.

:iconstjoan:
wooo! I was thinking about maybe trying to extend this through the community prose and poetry (and maybe try to develop a similar thing for visual art though probably not) because seriously like the major reason I hear for people not wanting to read lit is 1) they dont know what to say and 2)it takes so much time it's not worth it.

Hopefully this will take care of both of those

The prizes sound good - as does the concept. The only thing I would disagree against, is cashing in points for comments / faves ;)

BEAUTIFUL WORLD? CAN I WIN YOU BACK?
:iconstjoan:
doesn't bother me too much, it's really the least I can do, and honestly if they're going to invest that much time into it i will probably already be in their gallery poking around
