`GeneratingHype on letters, editing and GDship

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, August 30
An interview with ex-GD, writer, editor, fascinating person: `GeneratingHype. Here are some tidbits from the interview (which I recommend reading in full):

"Letters presuppose a sort of authenticity, and I truly believe that a story—no matter the form—needs to be authentic and believable.

"Sometimes I wish I had stories such as "I wrote my first published poem at three and a half!" or "I started writing stories at two!", but writing never came easy for me and is still not very easy for me.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 29
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

WritersForArt Features - Issue 1

*WritersForArt is a club helping to link the literature community with the other art communities:
We would like to invite you all to become members of this delightful concept - that of using your literary skills to comment on artistic work in a creative manner, rather than the bog standard critique. A poem, a short ditty, a humorous anecdote or just a witty interpretation. These are the things that we encourage here.

We are very glad to present you our first selection of features.

Every featured artist is introduced by a comment of one of the Founders of WritersForArt and 4 thumbs representing the featured artist's gallery.

Traditional Art

Featured artist: *RSBoswell

Comment by *Amberlouie

"RSBoswell's 38-piece gallery provides a fantastic blend, paintings of scenery and every-day stills. These exceptional paintings depict a certain depth - a concept behind a concept. RSBoswell's work shows his expanse of skills and sensitive perception to the world."

Digital Art

Featured artist: ~dazzled

Comment by *AbCat

"Dazzled first began submitting artwork in 2002, and submitted work sporadically over the next three years, culminating in the 'Adventures of Wulag', a beautiful series of digital pieces charting the escapades of Wulag the goblin. He still pops on to dA from time to time, and will certainly be there to appreciate any comments which come his way.
He also has a small site which is mostly for German speakers, but features more of his recent work."

Artisan Craft

:iconsojourncuriosities:

Featured artist: ~sojourncuriosities

Comment by *FelixT

"Our Artisan Craft feature sojourncuriosities is a very skilled jewellery artist. She has a variety of pieces in her gallery that are of different style, concept and colour. Her works include modern, elegant rings as well as classic, noble works. Also there are unique and interesting crafts of owls and dinosaurs, bikes and anchors. Overall the gallery can be a good inspiration as of its variety of themes and styles."
