reports, May 13, 2007One of the latest trends on deviantART is to use stock to make stock.
While this is a great innovation and creative idea, it seems that there are people who are doing this more and more without the permission of the original stock artists.
And that's not the only problem, when people come across these new stocks, the viewer is often unable to tell weather or not they even obtained permission from the original stock artist to do so.
Since this trend is starting to catch on, stockers need to be aware that this is happening. Also, many stockers do not have anything in their own personal rules regarding this issue which may give amateur stockers the impression that it is ok to use stock to make their own stock as long as they credit the original stocker when that may not always be the case.
Ways to prevent this from happening to you without your knowledge.
Make sure that you include something regarding your stock being used to make other stock.
Do a browse check to see if anyone has already done this without your knowledge.
In conclusion, be aware that if you are a stocker, that this may have already happened with your stock. If you are a manipulator, make sure that if you are using stock that has been comprised of other stock that the person has obtained the right to do so before you use the stock. If you are a stocker who wants to make stock using other peoples stock, be sure that you know it's ok with the original stock artists for you to do so. The main purpose of this news article is simply to raise awareness on this issue.
