Vexelicious: The Features #15

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, July 9
This is the fifteenth Vexelicious feature article. As the name suggests, this article will be all about vexels. It is divided into three parts: DD's given in May and April, Vexels uploaded in May and April, and Themed Vexels.

What a Vexel Is: The Official dA Definition

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, July 7
Influenced by recent dispute, it has been decided that it is time to make a solidified definition of what a vexel is by deviantART's terms. Please understand that this definition, and the rules along with it, are not made up from a few of the gallery moderator's thoughts, but built from the foundation of what the creator's words on 'vexel' were, and what the majority of the vexel community of deviantART has come to accept as a vexel. These rules are solid, final, and most-likely will not be faltered.

Stop the Presses!!!! V 3.0

^Ghouldaddy:iconGhouldaddy: reports, May 19, 2007

PHOTOJOURNALISM
Pronunciation: f O t O - j-r na-l-sm
Function: noun
meaning: journalism in which written copy is subordinate to pictorial usually photographic presentation of news stories or in which a high proportion of pictorial presentation is used; broadly : news photography
according to Mirriam-Webster Dictionary

Welcome to Stop the Presses a monthly news feature aimed at showcasing some of the very best from the Photojournalism Gallery on dA. Myself along with my team of =tanya-n, (gotta have ladies first), *Slimmons, (my brotha from anotha motha), *Archange, (the french master of cynicism), and `bzed, (buuhh-zed) scour the photojournalism gallery each month looking for what best exemplifies what the category can and should be, Stop the Presses was kidnapped by aliens last month, but have no fear, we recaptured our selections so you get a double dose....

MARCH

April
:iconarchange: *Archange

Really good (but hard to achieve!) technical choices here, like aperture, speed, framing, bring a very dynamic emotional blast that helps telling a story by this picture.

A simple but efficient snap that shows that photojournalism is all about coming as close as possible to the subject without disturbing it.

Being here at the right time, catching a decisive instant in a camera : this deviant succeeded immortalizing emotion.

Because a picture does not need to show everything when suggesting let your imagination so much better finish the story behind.

Impressive light makes this everyday instant so surreal.

I highly recommend *hersley's gallery - he has some powerful images, as well as subtle ones, like this one.

~SAMLIM's gallery also contains many gems like this one, which successfully illustrates how vivid and colourful Indian festivals can be.

~Trueblood has some very amusing and humorous shots like this one. Of course, being a fan of pigs, I'm slightly biased.. ;P

=suerdas has captured expressions and atmosphere with this effective sports shot

This simple yet striking shot by ~fluorogoat is a stark reminder of the victims of war

=radiohat continues to amuse us with his shots of the quirky Viennese - and quirky is an understatement!

:iconghouldaddy: ^Ghouldaddy

by ~SAMLIM is a great capture of old world charm.

there is no effin way I would ever let any of my friends jump over me with their boards. *InfernalFear shows us what being at the right place at the right time can do.

I'm loving the point of view that *hersley presents in this shot.

I had to include this shot by ~incredi simply because it reminds me of the approaching summer!

~Daxius shows what rock and effin'roll is all about.

See you next month. And don't forget if you come across great photojournalism to recommend it to any of our selectors, =tanya-n, *Archange, *Slimmons and `bzed.

And send me your Daily Deviation suggestions!

Alice came to a fork in the road...
"Which road do I take?"she asked.
"Where do you want to go?"responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know,"Alice answered.
Then said the cat,"it doesn't matter"
