Welcome to Three Songs issue number 4, where each month I will feature some of the best eye catching Music Photography on deviantART from around the world.

Why the name "Three Songs"?
Most media access passes will only allow you to shoot the very first three songs of an act and then you must move on, sometimes you get lucky and can stay for a complete set but that is very very rare.

So here at Three Songs you wont find cute kitties, selected coloured art or work with limited favourites just mother fuckin' rock-pop-n-roll!




Hints and Tips:

Hint 3: Be prepared for the pit
You got your first media pass and you're front of stage ready for the band to burst out guitars blaring, you're nervous and your hands are getting clammy you reach into your bag and pull out your camera.
As you do more media enter the front of stage boasting DSLRs with lenses that could shoot Pluto from another universe, your heart sinks a little when you look down at your compact digital camera...

It's time for an upgrade.

Tip 3: Your basic kit
A good camera lens combination is key to getting the best image for your webzine/publication
It is best to use a camera that allows you to change the Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO with a lens that gives you the sharpest image. You don’t want a batch of colorful blurry images.

Most gigs you are not allowed to use flash so having correct kit that allows these changes is important, you don't want to go blinding the lead singer or guitarist whilst mid solo.
A decent basic DSLR is key a Canon 400D or Nikon D80 is a great start with a Canon 50mm f1.8 II or Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens.

Being at a gig with a powershot is not so crash hot especially if you get in someone's way who has a better camera than you, be in for a cold hard death stare. If you can pull it off I say good on you!
