This issue, we have a special feature on art based around the forums. I researched it carefully and totally didn't just put "forum" in the search.

The Summer Invasion!

It's the time of year that forum whores dread - where n00bs by the truckload enter the forums, leaving Deviants piled underneath a sewage of forum topics and bad spelling. At the moment it looks like it's just begun. Hopefully, it won't be as bad as last year where it seemed to drag on right until Christmas

#Forum issued it's usual call to arms thread ([link]) asking the forum regulars to band against the n00b threat.




Unfortunately, this seems to have been coupled with a lack of activity. Recently, especially in Complaints, the forums seemed to have died. Or at least be choking on their tar-filled lungs.

Again, hopefully this will be a temporary thing

And this month, another new emoticon was added - ( :noes: )

It's kinda a little backward, with being added first, but a welcome edition to the forums

I thought that this month we'd just take a look at some art based upon and inspired by the forums.

Forum Lessons!

Lesson 2: Get your thread noticed!

Your thread will never be popular unless you get it noticed. Here's some pointers to get it noticed.

• Make a good title. Capitalise it, and make it interesting to pull the audience in. Keep it short and sharp.


• Choose a thread icon other than the alien. You'd be surprised at the difference it makes.


• Okay, so now they're in your thread - keep it short. If you're a forum regular you might get away with longer ones, but generally people won't read a topic that's too long.


• Remember last issue's lesson. Use good grammar, spelling and formatting. You want to make your thread as easy to read as possible.


• Try not to use any "dead horse" topics. These are the topics which have been posted over and over again in the forums. You might not know what topics these are; generally lurking for a while is the best way to find out. Too impatient? Well, just think: if you've seen it on other forums more than once, it's probably a dead horse


• Remember that the dA forums are not the BBCode style ones. They allow posters to reply to any post. This means that typical forums games, for example "three word story" games won't usually work as well.


• And most importantly: make sure you're posting the right topic in the right forum. Scroll through the forum list first
