Introduction

Have you ever stopped to consider where originated from? Or thought about using it in an emoticon of your own? Here's a contest for all emoticonists, no matter what level of skill, to give it ago and win some great prizes at the same time!

The blankstare is quite possibly the most recognisable emoticon on deviantART. Forever it will hold its place within this community’s history. Known by some as :|, the image we know today was submitted to deviantART on the 31st of May, 2002 by `weaponzero. In order to celebrate and commemorate this deviation’s 1,826th day on deviantART we would like to invite you to enter an exciting emoticon based competition.

Since it was first submitted, `weaponzero gave permission for people to use as they pleased. This idea is the basis of our contest. We would like to invite you to create an emoticon using . Whether it be a remake, a revision, the use of an existing emote or a completely new idea, we want to you to dust off that emoticon software and get creating! The key here is creativity and originality, that is, the combination of something old with something new.

Rules

All entries must be submitted after Thursday the 31st of May.

All entries must be submitted before Sunday the 1st of July 8.30pm AEST. Winners will be announced shortly afterwards.

Deviants may enter as many times as they like.

Remember to abide by deviantART's Terms of Service. Remember that is only one of a few emoticons on the Emoticon Legend that can be used freely and without permission.

The key to this contest is originality and creativity!
