Surf the 'Today' section and you'll occasionally see artist asking their watching public exactly why they appreciate their work. Responses can often be limited or concise, not to disvalue their insight or the efforts of those keen to share their opinion. However, surely our appreciation should be fully expressed to those keep us coming back to this site day after day, year after year and truly inspire us to better ourselves and our art.
That is why I've decided to create this newscast that I hope to regularly continue and possibly encourage other members to contribute their own unique insights of the deviants they admire.
I wish to begin close to my heart with the anime artist, deviant *

Real name Lisa Rye, residing in Perth, Australia
A look through her profile you get the sense of fun, skilled veteran deviant, prolific and multi talented
Even her avatar promotes anticipation and her alias that takes a bit of learning, fills the view with great expectations.
Although not my first watch (honestly, I can't quite remember who was)
I came across her work frequently in my first few days as a freshly fledged deviant. Initially I discovered her art unknowingly weeks prior to my signing up; whilst searching for influences for my graphics design course under the stimuli How Not To Fly. In this period I was using deviantArt extensively in finding inspiration for my designs and I frequently came across this image:
I was struck by a twinge of recognition that went beyond having seen this image dozens of times in my visits to this site. I didn't figure it out until much later, when passing time, that I searched for works based on DragonBall Z a firm favorite of me and my friends; one of whom enhanced his already amazing drawing skills making fan art of its characters and was a major inspiration for my beginnings as an artist ~

It was then that I came across this image:
It was truly exhilarating to see my favorite characters portrayed so originally yet so incredibly accurately that I had to search for more and more I did find:

As well as another Akira Toriyama favorite of mine Chrono Trigger:
It was searching further into her gallery that I found that ever present image and finally saw what I had recognized for so long. It was then that I was introduced to the wonderful world of *

Her continuing foray into the artworks of Naruto, One Piece and Okami, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy are a constant example of fanart 'done right'. The humor in many of her deviations are well executed often involving crossovers from the above mentioned franchises.
What strikes me however, is an amazing versatility and range. Great fanartists can often be one dimensional but she carries her fandom across various mediums from the standard cell shading to traditional/digital painting, plushies and of course cosplay.
A great textilist, her resume extends to clothing design and costume making, most recently recreating a dress from the sci-fi series 'Firefly'.
Even more impressive than her range is the uniqueness of her originals. Look at them and you could easily forget that she is primarily a fan artist, her imagination and command of the mediums are truly exceptional , ever sleak and professional. Professional quality is definitely one of her many attributes, back breaking time and dedication is evident in her
works and by her own description. Also excepting commissions, a great challenge and testament to many an artist.
In all of this first and foremost she is an anime artist, one much loved with a well deserved but undervaluing near 2 million pageviews, I eagerly await your next deviation, from me and your watching public
here's to you *
