I first stumbled upon ~
hunnd like I have stumbled upon many other amazing deviants. I was browsing a watcher's Favorites Gallery when I happened to come across one of the most adorable photographs I have ever seen. It was a young girl sporting a pair of large bifocals with an expression on her face to make anyone break a smile. Needless to say, I did, and clicked on it. If I wasnt in love from the start, I was by the time I viewed her entire gallery. I quickly added her to my watch list.
This eighteen year old from Sweden proved to be what one would call undiscovered talent here on DA, with only a little over one thousand pageviews. My goal is to change that, however. I selected her as my Featured Artist of the Week, but felt compelled to not just leave it at that. So without further adieu, here is an interview I conducted with the lovely Johanna Ljungquist!
Johanna Ljungquist interview by Desiree R. Goguen
DRG: When did you get into photography? What drew you to it?
JL:About three years ago I started to take some not so serious photos, and discovered that I was quite good. And then it was just natural for me to continue with photography. I mean, everybody likes to be good. But of course there is also something bigger, deeper. I want to catch and immortalize the world's beauty...
DRG: You use your little sister in a lot of your photos. Whats her name and age?
JL:Olivia, shes six.
DRG:What was the first experience you had used your sister to shoot with as a model? How did it come about?
JL:I dont remember the exact moment, but she has always liked to stand in front of the camera, so probably it all began by accident. I know she was good right from the start, she knew how to pose and express feelings.
DRG: She's absolutely fantastic!
JL:I know! She gets shy when I tell her.
DRG: Are you pursuing photography as a profession?
JL:No Im not, but Im definitely thinking about it.
DRG: Pirates or Ninjas?
JL:Ninjas!
DRG: What do you hope to get across to the viewers of your photography?
JL:I just want the viewers to react, to feel something.
DRG:If there's one thing you hope to accomplish on DA, what would it be?
JL:I dont really have any DA-goals. Im more into watching photos and get inspiration. There are so many great photographers on DA.
DRG: Thanks so much, for your time!
JL:My pleasure!
Here are just a few of her photographs that I've chosen because I love them, but there are plenty more in her gallery. So be sure to go check her out and tell her who sent you!
