Due to the massive upload rates in the galleries new and talented members of deviantART really have a hard time getting noticed. With this feature I want to give those members a head start and the exposure they deserve.
Being a club for aspiring photographers getting the acknowledgment they deserve while having fun, we came up with a new idea. "Member Spotlight" is now a running idea featuring a special member from the club every week including an interview!
Here are 100 (and a few more) of some very nice photographs on deviantART that I think should get some attention. Some already have a fair bit, but deserve it. So I'm giving them more.
I'm trying to figure out why this hasn't been reported as of lately!
On June 5, 2007 Canon has introduced a prototype CMOS sensor that claimes to be a whopping 50 megapixel sensor.
The prototype sensor is the size of your average sensor in Canon cameras 19 x 28mm. This means that as of right now they could potentially be brought into the market and used in future cameras.
According to my source, "there are no plans to launch this just yet, so we can rest easy for now with our measly, pathetic, poxy, low-res 12MP digi-cams." A bit troubling, but possibly a very bright future is in store for our cameras!
At the same time I'd like to point out that woth an increase in the megapixels, so will our hard drives need to be larger. It's a good thing they have 1 - 2 terrabyte backup drives now!
What's the point on a 50 megapixel sensor in public cameras, even if they are dSLR? It only means you'll need to have more memory cards, longer time to upload the pictures to the computer, and if it's a 50megapixel sensor on the size of the normal 10Megapixels, it'll only mean really high noisie pictures, unless they discovered the wheel again, and a new technological way to improve this problem.
With the rising of higher megapixle cameras the size of the file increases. At the same time, hard drives are becomming larger and larger. You can now go buy 1.5 Terrabyte drive for less than $400 USD now. Not to mention when the 50 megapixel does come out there will be larger and larger drives to hold it. Last time I checked there was something higher than a 4GB CF card.
There will be problems right now, but like anything a big company will always solve the problems. They dont wan't to tarnish there name!

If the saying "You are what you eat" is true, then I must be a hot latina!
This sounds awesome but my only concern would be the price. The EOS Mark II is out there, and that's not even close to this one. The good news is this will definitely lower the other camera's prices as they try to make this affordable to as many people as possible.

yeey! at last these regular cameras will get cheaper and I'll be able to throw away my 6.2 mp piece o' and buy a 11mp (not even 12 I'm fine with 11) and stop photoshoping every picture I take! I can't wait till I take a 1/2000s picture o' exploding balloon full of water! yeey!
