Welcome to 3AM Perspective’s Summer 2007 Writing Contest the Third Annual contest to be held here! The contest starts on June 22nd and ends August 24th.

THE GOAL: Write a short story based on the following image.


RULES:

- Story must tie into the image shown.
- Story should be no more than 6000 words.
- NO SCRIPT FORMAT! Any script formats will not be accepted.
- If you wish to do a poem, I will also gladly accept this as an entry.
- The story must comply with all DeviantArt rules, (i.e. no p0rn, please) which truly goes without saying, but I’ve got to cover my bases here.

JUDGING:
I will personally judge the contest. Your work will be judged on the following:
- How well the story ties in with the contest image provided.
- Grammar, spelling, voice, progression of plot, etc.
- Creativity, emotion, and generally how well the story grabs my attention and sticks in my head.
- Remember, this is about writing a short story. As such, it is often difficult to include the entire story, but please give enough clues to at least fill in the gaps. I need some kind of hint as to what is going on, character’s connections with each other, etc. Basically, don’t leave me wondering what you were going on about in the end.

Upload your story to DeviantArt and then send me a note with the link to it. Please title the note as "Contest Entry."

THE DEADLINE: August 24th, 2007

1st prize
• A three month subscription to Deviant Art

• One print of your choice from my gallery (Matte print, approx. 8x10, give or take)
• A full color character bust image by me. (Full color: either sharpie markers or prisma pencils.)

2nd prize
• One print of your choice from my gallery (Matte print, approx. 8x10, give or take)
• An ink and pencil character bust image by me. (Fully shaded.)

3rd prize
• One print of your choice from my gallery (Matte print, approx. 8x10, give or take)
• A pencil sketch character bust image by me. (Line-art, of a cleaned up quality.)

Prizes may change if anyone decides to donate anything. (i.e. journal features, art requests, prints, subs, DA gear, etc….)


Technicalities and Questions:

How will I know if I win?
I will notify the winners via note when the contest ends. Winners will have six months after notification date to claim their prizes. After this time, any unclaimed prizes will be forfeited.

If I win, can I have a print from someone else’s gallery?
Sorry, no. Just my prints. I’m gonna be completely honest on this one. I get a discount on my own prints and I’m poor. So, yeah.

What species is the characters in said image? What is the name of the character? What is the gender of the character?! (hehe)
All of these questions are things I leave to the writers to decide. Have fun!
