Come on people, is thin really "in"?
We turn on our TVs. We look through magazines. We even walk down the streets. And its always on our minds. Our weight.
After watching a shocking infomercial on TV Saturday morning. "The Weight Loss Solution 'They' Don't Want You To Know About". It finally hit me. Is thin really in? With so many people being what is considered overweight or obese, we cant help but sit back and think do I fit in that category?
There are so many fad diets now that its not even quite safe to start one, for it could have repercussions. There is no short way to weight loss. But, BEFORE you start a fad diet, before you get a gym membership, before you starve yourself, think- Am I satisfied with my body image?
Its become a thing of the past for people to like what they see. Without any statistics, I would say a very small percentage of people worldwide are actually happy with the way they look. What did they do 100 years ago, before all this breakthrough technology such as liposuction, plastic reconstructions, and books on dieting?
So, we cant help but think, is it our governments fault that were overweight? Well, everyone will say we need to blame it on someone other than ourselves. Truth is, hey, it could be. They allow the food to be there, they tax every bit of it we purchase. You dont see any bans on McDonalds or Burger King. No, in fact, you see them reproducing like rabbits all over the 6 major continents.
With all the issues going on in this world, why would I focus on weight? Because everyone simply tired of hearing about it. All over the forums do you like skinny or curvy?
give me a break! Everyone likes a person that likes who and what they are! Dont people see that true beauty is only skin deep and that if youre happy with yourself, others will see that and love you for it? And those that don't, do you even want to be around them in the first place?
Dont hate yourself because you cant lose that 10, 20, or even 40 pounds. If you can accept it, then how will society ever be able to? Im not saying its good to be extremely overweight, because health wise, its dangerous. However, the majority of people that are not satisfied with their weight are definitely under or around 250 pounds, often much smaller. There is nothing wrong with a little diet and exercise, but lets not preach health here! If youre active and in shape, good for you. But if youre not, whos telling you that you have to be something youre not? If you want it, youll work hard and get it.
Before you can think about doing anything to lose weight, you have to find a way to accept or reject who and what you are. You have to be honest with yourself. Know that maybe youre not perfect. Youre not like those models on TV or those Playgirl Bunnies. But, when you sit and think about it, do you really want to be one of them? Really? So, either accept yourself for who you are, or just change it. Youre better off learning to accept yourself for what you look like, and understand that, despite everything, if you dont like it, you can always change it.
Its up to you to decide on what looks best. Believe in hips, not hip bones. Weight problems can be dangerous, especially for teenagers, which are more susceptible to bulimia and anorexia- quick fixes to a spot of pudge, that have many problems afterwards. How skinny is too skinny? How fat is too fat? How about we quit obsessing, get happy with ourselves, so we can all join to tackle bigger problems in the world?
Think about this before you start another diet.
Devious Comments
I'm in favor of a healthy life. A person with overweight have less chances to live a complete and healthy life. In the other way, a person with too much less weight, is also risking his life.
It's true we believe in a society well young people have a contast presion to fit it in the today's social standars.
If we don't love ourselves and accept who we really are, we wont be able to love and accept the reality around us.
Perfection is merely an ilusion.

what? are you sad? Go get some ice cream.
But then, I'm 6'4". Overweight starts at around 200 pounds for me. And I'm around 180 so... no problem here. Not ideal mind you, but I've developed muscle mass lately. I used to be fat when I was little (and shorter).
Also, as far as "focusing" on weight goes, I work, I'm in my 4th year of college, and still find time to work out. Power lifting, mobility, Kendo and some random form of martial art some dude invented that he called Jissan Do.
Also, diets are extremely lame. NOBODY will lose weight adequately by eating god knows how many calories LESS, instead of actual sports-related activities.

Also, if you can't read kanji for sh*t, stop using it. It's a front to people who are learning that you'd parade your incompetence in japanese because it's 'cool'.
Its like saying "Now, young Billy, you have to get out and exercise some more because the doctor said you're overweight and nobody likes the fat kid. Now what do you want from McDonalds?"
It really doesnt make sense. I have several friends who have had eating disorders and I cannot for the life of me understand it. They're all skinny people too. Far TOO skinny if you ask me.
And for me, its almost like a slap in the face. When I tell my friends who have had eating disorders that they are too thin, they look at me and go "YEAH RIGHT ZANNAH. You go ahead and tell ME who's too skinny"
With the slightest of sarcasm.
This is only because I'm 5' 5" and 103. But that is NOT because I try to, if anything I try desperatly to gain weight, but alas, I am a hypoglicimic and anemic lacrosse player. Which in turn makes it near impossible for me to gain weight.
And seeing all these people whining about how they wish they were thin, I just wish I could tell them how great it is to be underweight and pass out once a day, or not have anything fit you correctly because any tighter and your ribs would show.
Nobody's ever happy, huh?

Double cheeseburger: Their cheese has the consistency of mustard. Cheese cheese like you use in real pizza (home made mind you, the real deal) is alot more consistent, as made obvious by it's tendency not to separate. Warm pizza, with tons of cheese on top - nightmare to cut. THAT is real cheese.
