INTERVIEW WITH

1. How long have you been doing digital art?

I got into my photomanipulations in Oct 2005, when my sweet friend brought me here to dA.

2. What got you started?

Hmmm, well I started off doing cutsie tag signatures about 5 yrs ago...you know, those silly sparkly animated ones for your email...LOL

3. Do you have any formal training either as a traditional artist or in digital art?

No, I don't...my photomanipulations are self-taught. I've not branched off yet, to traditional art...I'm staying within my comfort zone for now. LOL

4. What software do you normally use?

Photoshop CS2 along with my beloved wacom pen tablet.

5. Do you have a preference for the type of picture you like to create?

Yes, actually...My manips are generally fantasy...and anyone that knows me, knows I go for the sparkly-diamondy girly fantasy art.

6. Can you give a brief overview of your technique?

I'm really assanine about blending...LOL My smudge tool is my best friend when it comes to getting my edges to blend with the background...

7. What sort of things inspire your artwork?

Music...I get soooo many ideas from listening to songs. Mostly rock.

8. Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?

All I can say is practice! Keep creating what makes YOU happy! I keep ALL my old art from the very beginning and go back there frequently to remind me how I started and how I've grown and improved. Makes me feel good to see that I HAVE indeed progressed. And I know many don't want critique on their art, but when someone takes the time to give it...don't push it aside so quickly. It could be the ONE thing that's needed to take you to that next level. Believe ME

9. Do you have any future plans for diversifying your artwork?

Not really sure yet...Right now I'm just enjoying myself...and I DO have pre-made backgrounds that I've branched out to off-site areas...but beyond that, I've not planned yet.

10. Is there anything else you'd like to add about what you do? (Feel free to give links etc. where appropriate!)

Well, aside from my art gallery, I have 2 other accounts here in which I create stamps for dA's journals... and a stock account here along with many stores off-site that I sell backgrounds at, including Mellow Butterfly, Digital Designs, and Fantasies Unleashed

WHY THINK PINK?

Take a look at Jen's homepage to watch out for details of her second Think Pink contest, which is a celebration for all those of us who have survived the dreaded breast cancer scare, having had malignant growths removed, and also maybe gone through chemotherapy/radiotherapy and all the discomforts that go with that.

Jen held such a contest last year which was very successful. This year there will be loads more categories in which to enter, and loads of exciting new prizes too!

Here's a stamp you can add to your journal, particularly if you are a stockist who is prepared to donate to the Breast Cancer cause.



If you would like to donate a prize towards this contest, please contact by note. In any case, it would be great for as many people as possible to enter the fun by submitting a deviation.

The contest is anticipated to run, starting around July 9th or 10th and it will run until Oct 2nd (the 6th anniversary of Jen's own breast cancer survival)!
