reports, June 30, 2007When I was searching for stock for my entry to =karemelancholia's Peace contest I was a little dismayed to realise how caucasian-looking much of the art on dA is. Now I'm no exception to the rule here and there are certainly handfuls of images here and there featuring other racial types, but by and large these communities are grossly under-represented in artwork compared to real-life populations. So I started thinking about what I could do about it and decided to run a competition...

Rules:
Please note: I understand that this may be considered somewhat controversial subject matter. There are many areas of inequality in the world including gender, age, sexual preference, disability etc. I support equality for everyone but for this competition I'm just dealing with race. If you are offended by this I apologise. It is my intention to encourage people to support minority groups and make sure they are fairly represented. I will listen to considered opinions and comments on the matter but if it really presses your buttons please just leave it alone.

- Open to photomanipulation and photography (sorry to those from other media, these are the only areas I feel qualified to judge.)
- Entries must be created specifically for the competition (created after June 30, 2007)
- Deviation must say that it's for this contest and link to this account.

Apartheid (in [The Republic of] South Africa ) was abolished a couple of years after I was born; I grew up among a range of cultures there, even after I left there; I definitely experience a wide range of cultures, customs and exposure to different kinds of people now. I always support things that encourage racial diversity.
I've got something in my gallery already - my mom's done the same thing
And I don't mind doing features; that's about all I can do at the moment. If I featured I could still enter, right?
