Okay, so about
last week's edition...Wow. That's all I can say. I mean, I'm just so flattered at the feedback, the number of faves, & making the Popular section in the news...As someone who will probably never make the front page because of their artwork, this was indeed a treat...So I'd like to thank you all for this honor. It only seems appropriate, as it was thanking those who support my Mini-DDs that got me here...^_^
Now to pray that a popular news article like that will help be the key to something bigger I have in mind...Something I have planned...Something which I will not mention here because I don't want to blab it around but will foolishly reveal in the journal entry I make after this for some reason...
Ah, & Canada Day...A holiday in which I can celebrate my nation's birthday by launching some fireworks off near the lake along with some Mentos & Diet Coke (still need to perfect that). Sadly, I didn't have the time to prepare anything major here to celebrate Canada Day, & a faulty search engine didn't help me in finding anything new...But I was able to provide a nice little something at the end here.
So enjoy this week's features, & happy Canada Day...We gave you Rush, Jim Carrey, & Superman, dammit. Think about that the next time you look at the symbol of truth, justice, & the American way.
Okay, so if you don't know by now, the featured artists here each receive the Golden Fefcaine Award:
...My little prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Plus it has a delicious milk chocolate center! And why the Hell not, I'll throw in a little maple flavor for this week as well...
Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...

Ahh, how I love it when I find a really cool Sonic fan character & an equally cool piece of work to go with it...Just like
.Stage 1: Jumble Vine Jungle:. by *
Lucky101. Featuring a cute, playful, energetic & creative character in one eye-pleasing, well-drawn, & nicely-detailed piece of work, you would have to be damn foolish to pass this up. Simply put, one of the best fan characters I've ever seen. Period.

Have I ever mentioned before that I love colorful & trippy works of art? Probably, but that still doesn't change the fact that
Mr. Badmouth by ~
Par4noid is one sweet piece of work. Colorful, creative, eye-catching, & brimming with some simple yet funky little character designs & a well-done "opetical illusion" background (definitely lovable), this is one Deviation that you should definitely fave, lest you piss off Mr. Badmouth...

A bit of a newer artist here at DA, ~
eelsleeves' gallery is full of so much talent & creativity that I had a load of difficulty deciding on the best piece to feature...Hell, I'm still not even sure that I picked the coolest one! Seriously though,
Spacenewts And Streets is a a sweet Deviation featuring some well-designed characters, some great coloring, some nice details, & this perfect "cartoonishly sinister" mood to it all. So what are you waiting for? Fave this & check out the rest of the artist's gallery already!!

"Electro-posessed haunted zombie-tree Baseball-player." Once I saw how ~
Imson summed up the main character in his description for
Electro posession, I knew I had a winner here. Go on, tell me you wouldn't fall in love with a concept like that. I
dare you. Oh, & let's not forget the astonishing drawing with the amazing color scheme with the nice amount of detail as well, of course. Gotta love it!
ED209 by *
nobeak...Oh, now I just couldn't resist this one. A gloriously bright, trippy, & colorful mash-up of several well-made, funky cartoonish & slightly urban designs? Sounds damn fine to me! And it's all laid out in such an eye-pleasing way that it definitely would make for one amazing poster design, as mentioned in the description. So make sure to fave this one...Then pray you can somehow find a poster of it as well.

A delicious throwback (pun not intended) to the days of 2D platform gaming,
TESH land - Sweeeeeeeeet by ~
caramelaw is one stylish & colorful piece of work, designed & laid out so well it perfectly gives off the feeling of a screenshot from an old-school 16-bit game, from the Mario-like level design to the characters & the status bar. This is truly one piece of eye candy (once again, pun not intended) you need to fave...
Sacred Grove of the Machinae by ~
einen really doesn't need much praise from me, as it's amazing enough on it's own...Drawn amazingly well, nicely colored & detailed (the work on the secenery is just beautiful), infused with a sweet & humorous concept, feeling as though it came from great little sci-fi piece of work...Huh. Guess I apparently praised it after all. Well, it does deserve all the praise it can get...
Panda Hugs by ~
Nat-Dohma...It may apparently be a random doodle, but it's definitely one damn fine doodle. Aside from being completely cute & lovable (hey, who doesn't love hugs from their sweeties?), it's also nicely styled, nicely drawn, & nicely colored (great use of black and white), so one could say it's nice...But "nice" isn't a great enough word overall for something like this. "Awesome" works better here, thank you very much.

Simply put,
CANADABOT by ~
elspike-o combines two of my favorite things in life - Creative character design & love for my country - & mixes them up in one nice little cartoon. Creative & nicely drawn with a simple & effective color scheme, this is one little beauty that makes me feel even a little more proud to be Canadian...Now fave this before the bot kicks your ass. And happy Canada Day, everyone!!!
...& that's all for this week! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated! I hope you've all liked what I've featured this week, & I'll be back next week with nine more DD-worthy works of art! Sayanora until then! ^_^
