===============================
Hello, how are you today?
I'm fine, thank you.
As an introduction, can we know a little bit about you?
Well, my name is Diana Rikasari. I'm Indonesian, 22 years old but way much younger at face and heart (: hehehe. I'm currently completing my Masters degree in Nottingham University, majoring in Business International Management. Never took any art school nor art lessons, but art itself has been a very natural part of mine, in which I enjoy it as a hobby and as a self-expression.
How would you describe your art style?
My art style... poop art? LOL... Well, it's sort of a mixture between pop art, retro, mixed media and kinda thing. I can't really put it in words.
Are the 70's era give strong influence to your artwork?
I guess so... Yeah, they give most probably.
Big eye-glasses, wide stripe dresses, retro blouse, where did you get all those stuff?
LOL... They all are from eeeverywhere hehehe... The funny thing is, I usually buy all those stuffs just for my artworks, as I believe such outfits and accesories would add colors to the pics. I don't really wear them at real as I'm actually very casual at dressing.
We see that mostly you were as the model for your artwork. How did you take shots?
I take them using my tripod. And trust me, I do feel shy sometimes since people often look at me and think I'm a freak taking pics all alone with weird outfits and postures hehehe... And because I'm using a tripod, meaning I'm unable to see how I really was in the pic, I take quite a lot pictures, probably around 30 shots. Is that a lot or just normal? I don't really know actually d;
People adore your color composition. What is your recipe?
Wow, thanks! Hmm... Well, I think it's just about how you balance the use of such colors. I don't like things that way too dark or too bright nor too pale. It has to be balanced. So when I use a lot of, let's say, black, that means I should equalize it with a bit of white, or probably yellow or pink.
Magnificent concept, impressive pose, strong message. Where did you get those ideas?
Wow...again, thanks (: Hhmmpphh... my life has been very rich in experiences. Sad ones, happy ones, but I just try to tell people that, yes, sadness is there in our lives. But then again, it doesn't mean that you have to take it all and say, "I am sad, and I am angry" then make such dark artworks. No offense though, seriously. I just want people to feel happy and smile when they look my picture, even though they probably didn't catch the meaning inside it. I usually get ideas when I see things around me, then I think, "what would I do with them?". I believe any message can be communicated by various ways, even with such minimal properties.
What is the most important aspect of your artwork?
I think it would be the color. As you can see, my artworks are very colorful. But it doesn't mean that color can stand alone. Of course it should be supported by the other aspects. Again, it's a balance between all.
Do you ever participate in any art competition?
Well, I did once in my campus. Quite small level competition. And I was the 1st winner hehehe. Other competitions? Once joined a mural competition with ~
AD17YA and ~
motionstudy, didn't walk out with any prize, LOL. But I've participated in an exhibition though. The
Jakarta 32 that uphold by
Ruang Rupa. Well, I don't have many links in any art communities since I'm not an art student or artist. So it's quite hard for me to get such informations.
From your artwork in your gallery, which is the most challenging you?
Hmmm... that's tough... I would say, none d; They all came out from my heart, so I did not consider it as a challenge at all. I did not force myself when I'm not in the mood for making artworks. And none of my artworks use sophisticated effects or complex methods either. They were all very easy to made.
Lastly, is there any words you want to say to the other fellow Indonesian photographer?
Well, I would probably say...
It's not the camera
Nor the technology
It's what does there in your heart
Take any picture that you like

You have your very own art.
