Comics and Cartoons Mini Newsletter #1

Hi, and welcome to the first edition of the Comics and cartoons Mini
Newsletter.
This newsletter will be to inform you on the current goings-on in the comics and cartoons gallery. I think good communication with the artists and Gallery directors is very important so I want to keep everyone as informed with what is going on with the gallery as much as possible.
So, this newsletter is done by me ( ^misskittyoooo ) will be posted whenever I have updates on no set schedule, but there will also be a Monthly Newsletter done by both me and ^GH-MoNGo (My Partner GD for comics) which will have some fun events and more information!
If, However, I get enough interest in this newsletter I will make it a weekly or bi-weekly schedule with features.
So if you have any content (contests, events, projects) you are interested in including, send me a note and let me know your ideas and we'll see what we can get setup.

If you want to "subscribe" to these the only way to currently get them in your message centre is to watch me and make sure the journal/news box is checked.

So lets get started!
First let me inform you on a few DA terms I will be using in all my journals, news, and contests and ... you know whenever I make WORDS.

Miscat - Is what GD's call a miscatagorized Deviation.
Subcat - Sub- category ( a category within the main (parent) category.
C&C - Comics and Cartoons
Trad - Traditional
Report Desk - When you click the "report Policy violation" link on a deviation and select "misplacement" and report a deviation, it comes to a little collection of reports that I go in and move and fix.
Gallery Descriptions - These can be found in the submission process. When you've selected a gallery to submit to, there is a button that appears below, if you click it, it'll give you a description to the gallery you are submitting to. You should always be checking this to make sure you are posting to the right place.


Now onto business:

I've noticed that some Gallery descriptions in Comics and Cartoons are missing, so I've already started making a list of which galleries need descriptions and writing descriptions. If you know of a subcat that is missing a gallery description, let me know.

I've also noticed that there is a lot of digital in the traditional galleries. Images made using Photoshop, painter, GIMP, MSpaint, and any other computer program is DIGITAL. Anything done on a computer are digital.
Also, just because you inked the image traditionally doesn't mean it belongs in traditional. Once you've taken that inked drawing and coloured it in Photoshop (or another program) it becomes a digital piece as the colouring is now the main noticeable part of the deviation.
Think of the browsers when you post your work! If someone is searching DA for Traditional work they DON'T want to see Photoshopped work. If they want to see digitally coloured work they will look in digital.


There is a Fanart Main Category now, so Fanart needs to be submitted there and not into C&C now. Any art using or based on pre-exising comic characters or character done in comic form need to be posted in Fanart.
Fanart also has it's Own Gallery Director ( ^animator ) who will give DD's and take care of all your fanart needs.
Please Please, put your fanart in the Fanart category. The main things I have been moving so far is Digital out of Traditional and FANART. Theres way too much of it.

Also, The report desk has now been empty for 2 days (since I cleared out all the reports that were all reported by me before I became a GD ) so that means that the comic community isn't reporting miscats. Now I know for a fact that there are a kajillion miscats in every category, mostly the traditional, 3D, and paintings galleries.
I'd like to ask for your help with these miscats and ask that you go through and report as much as you can, even if you arent sure about the galleries, you can at least be able to identify fanart.
Your reports are very important to gallery directors, help us help you.

I am working on making a public google calender that will have on it all the events, contests, deadlines and newsletters that deal with the comic and cartoons gallery. So you will always know whats coming up and when.


There will be a couple of contests coming soon, but I want to get some galleries cleaned and get everything organized before that happens. I also need to sort out the prizes and other things.


If you wish to submit newsletter content to me to post in these newsletters (contest, projects, events) you can note me with your ideas or contensts.
Please be aware that I prefer quality over quantity in ALL things.
Your contest/projects/events needs to appeal to the whole of the c&c community, not just your watchers. So I wont accept contest that require participants to draw your own characters and things like that. Thats fine for yourself and your watchers, but it doesnt appeal to people who dont know your characters.
I'll also only accept contests that are specifically targeted to the comic community (including anime/manga is fine).


Okay, so thats basically where we stand with comics and Cartoons at my end.

Please keep in mind Gallery Directors do not deal with Policy violations, we only deal with miscats.
SO if you find porn, stolen work, hate and all that kinda stuff please use the report policy violation link and send it to the right place.
