Petition: "Expert" option for submissions

~NoidEXE:iconNoidEXE: reports, Jul 9, 2007
When the new submission system was introduced by the dA admins, I thought it was a good idea since it offered the newbies a more...let say.."semantic" criterion for submitting artwork.
However, over the time I've found the new system really frustrating and annoying, lacking the possibility to decide which gallery my deviation is falling into.
Moreover, I've found it more difficult to find a suitable location for my artwork now than with the older system, and I think it was easier for the newbies too, since it offered detailed descriptions of each category.

In conclusion, I would like the admins to, at least, give us an "expert" option for the new submission system that allows us to use our brains instead of the new dumbed-down interface to choose the location for our deviations. What I'm asking you is to fav or just comment on this news article if you want to join to the petition so this article gets popular, reaching the admins and expressing the views of the community.

Well, enough with the pseudo-formal writing. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

PS: "You don't have enough permissions to submit to this category -- news submission aborted" <--- WTF??!

~Th3w-san:iconTh3w-san: Jul 9, 2007, 8:31:20 PM
TOTALLY agreed. The new system is completely wacked out; I can't figure out where to put anything without backtracking through like three different options.

The old system worked by narrowing down. You picked the most general category (digital or traditional) and then picked successively more specific categories until you got to the right one. The new system is the complete opposite of the old, and it only introduces more meaningless choices since you have to work UP from the most specific category...

I understand that it's easier for people who don't understand the category system, but for those of us who DO it'd be really nice if we could use the old system and put things exactly where they're supposed to be without fumbling around so much.

I agree. The old system sucked, but it's nowhere near as bad as this one.
